Where do you like to pull your camper to and spend time camping? The wife and I are planning to take some long camping trips and would love to see pictures of your Trucks and Campers as well the views from places you have been. There is a lot of this Country we have not seen so please share some ideas and pictures to help visualize.
Probably headed South at Christmas any favorites?
    Thanks

I don't have a camper, but I've pulled my dad's several times to Carter Caves State Park in Olive Hilly KY. It's only 20 minutes from home so we go up there a good bit throughout the year, just for activities and general hanging around at the campground. It's a really nice park, nice campground, and the caves are really cool. This weekend is the big campground trick or treat. People come out there from all over the area, just to get candy. They have campsite decoration contest, etc.

Cave Run Lake in Morehead, KY is also very nice. The lake is massive, and has a sandy beach roped off. I haven't seen the campground up close, but I'm told it's also very nice.

Check out hipcamp.com it's sort of an airBnB for camping. some of the sites have power/cabins others are just land to explore and park your camper on. We have used it a few times and have enjoyed all the sites.

I hope this thread gains traction. I'd like to get ideas as well. We have only had our RV for a about a month and the first trip was to Eureka Springs, AR. We'll go to Hot Springs in the spring for the horse races, and maybe Big Bend NP or out west somewhere for a few weeks later in the year.

We winterized ours yesterday. I don't get how you can travel with one in subfreezing temps without f'ing up your water lines and plumbing.

Where we camp it gets below freezing in the am from late August on. Never had a problem because it gets warm enough during the day. Late season we winterize and bring water jugs. We still use the sink and toilet. Black and grey tanks have antifreeze from the winterization process. Went last week and it was 9 deg in the morning. Hadn’t winterized yet so the pump froze solid. Thawed and working fine by 2pm. Luckily no damage. We may go one more time but it’s supposed to snow.

We mostly “camp” at local state parks with an occasional trip to the beach for a week or so.

How do you like your Grand Design? After a lot of shopping my wife and I are looking to trade up to a 2150RB.

Around here now is when the good camping time begins. It's nice to not have to feel like you have to hide in the trailer the whole time running the AC so you don't melt.

The 2150 looks like a great floorplan. We really like GD's floorplans. Lots of kitchen counter space and large baths. Just sleeps two tho, which works for us. I also noticed the 2150 hitch weight is 100 lbs less than ours, which would be nice.

Too early to tell on service. We have just used it for 6 nights so far. Towed it to the dealer today to get some warranty issues worked on so we'll see how well they do.

One of my favorite places is is land between the lakes in Tennessee which borders the Kentucky border. Another pretty nice place was Jekyll island Georgia. Land between the lakes is next to the lake clearly and Jekyll island is next to the ocean I which i cant find a picture of for some reason.Resized_Snapchat-991406961.jpg Snapchat-75052733.jpg

With spring around the corner it's time to plan. Our first trip will be to Ouachita Lake in Hot Springs mid May for a couple of days of horse racing at Oaklawn.

Has anyone camped at or near Big Bend NP? I'm thinking about a trip there and maybe the Las Cruces, NM area in April. Anyone?

OP, as they used to say "Head West young man".

Seriously though, we're not a fan of camping among the masses of humanity (e.g. campgrounds) so when we have the opportunity to go we try to get away from others. West is where it's at!

Having said that, there are some beautiful campgrounds out there, and they're great places to stay. We just find as we get a little older our preference is to enjoy some solitude.

Anyhow, if you can make it out this far, SE Utah is SPECTACULAR and there are lots of places you can get into even dragging a trailer.

Valley of the Gods is one of those places.
    IMG_2351.jpg
    Utah-CO 2019-2456~2.jpg

We also have a boat that serves as our "camper". Again, we go find a cove to anchor in, or a beach to beach on, and bingo, solitude for awhile.
    IMG_20191012_075912493.jpg

    IMG_20191012_151112329.jpg

Anyway you do it, the best way is to just get out and do it.

Our go to place here in southern AZ is Parker Canyon lake. Little less than 2 hours away from Tucson and at 5000' a little cooler too.

Anchor Down is awesome!!! It is so fun. We keep a pontoon boat in Douglas Lake and have friends that we stay with at Anchor Down. I was reading a few articles and it is considered a top 5 rv resort in the nation.

I am currently looking at a couple Grand Design models right now and possibly going to look at a used Winnebago 2100BH this weekend.

I posted a question in a FB RV group about sanitizing my water system with vinegar and/or baking soda, since I can't get bleach, so I could go camping next week. They deleted my post and suggested I was an idiot for not staying home. I agree I'm an idiot for other reasons, but my state parks are open to cabin and RV camping and we do not have a stay at home order. We are required to practice social distancing at the campsites, which is not a problem. These are crazy times.

Are you AZ? And, yeah, your FB group are a bunch of idiots.

We just went and enjoyed one of our AZ state parks for 3 days (Mon-Wed) this week the campgrounds were actually full. People seemed to be distancing themselves for the most part and the restrooms/showers were closed. They did have outhouses available though.

We were on the boat so we skipped the campground thing and went to an isolated boat in site.

Not AZ. I'm reluctant to say where for fear some out of state Nazis will show up protesting. And it's an ex-FB site for me, lol.
