Just a question for yall. I bought a bigger camper and I need tow mirrors. I stopped at the dealership and they said they dont know if the wiring and everything are the same or not. So much for being professionals on these trucks. Has anyone done a mirror swap and know which are the best to go with. Thanks for the help.

OEM tow mirrors are plug and play. Also the aftermarket ones are too. I've had both, ebay is a good place to find what your looking for. I have these on currently, but these needed additional wiring for features our trucks do not come with...

I actually like the OEM tow mirrors because they are plug & play. Actually purchased them the other day. Spark parts is a good site and I think we get a discount from this forum. Also for a cheap option there are clip on mirrors. 1AAuto is also a good site to look at. Good luck!

The ones in your profile pic? Correct me if I’m wrong, but those aren’t OEM, right?

I bought the trail ridge tow mirrors from 1AAuto.com. the keep all factory options (bsm, heat, and power adjust) as well as give you led running lights and turn signals. The fit and finish look factory, but the glass mirrors do vibrate more than I would prefer. Its not enough that the mirrors arent usable, just slightly annoying.

I went with Toyota tow mirrors precisely because of vibration issues with aftermarket mirrors. Some are happy with them, but some, as awq735, do have vibration issues.

For your truck, OP, you should gain turn signal and running light with tow mirrors.

Hmm, I'm interested but my truck doesn't have the BSM. Would this be an issue for install you think? I don't want to purchase, install and get some weird error or lights on for BSM on the mirror all the time. They don't seem to carry them without the BSM feature.

I recently purchased similar ones to the above post.... there are 2 spot like LED lights that I assume would be attached to the reverse lights.. any luck on locating that wire?46C9E378-DB7C-4865-9FED-F9380E04CD7A.jpg

    Not enough....
I just installed these, and haven't finished the wiring yet, but I'll be wiring them to the cargo light switch. There is a 1AAuto video on YouTube that shows their version being installed. The white wire goes to a brown power wire for the switch. That way you can control when it comes on for additional light, and just manually switch them on reverse when needed. I believe the grey wire is the ground, which is slightly different than the 1AAuto mirror.

Is there anything that you can do to stop the vibration?

I have the trail ridge mirrors and they don't vibrate any worse than the factory sport mirrors did. They've been great. I'm not staring in the mirrors, I'm just glancing in the mirror to check my trailer, and traffic, so the little vibration I do get is hardly noticed. I'd highly recommend the trail ridge mirrors over the super expensive factory mirrors from Toyota. I'm actually buying some for my old Ram 2500. Don't be scrrrddd.

I agree, just put mine my tundra. 10 min to pull door panel off, 5 min to swap out each one as long as you do not have to fool with rewiring. 30 min job tops.

Just FYI the Gm style mirrors are way better for towing than the factory style. I started with the trail ridge ( factory clone ) hated them. The lower mirror is a joke, unless you like looking at your trucks rear tire.
The GM style rocks pulling 30ft camper!! Much better in every way

I just found out the same thing. Toyota is the way to go with these style mirrors.

I've wanted to do tow mirrors but I'd probably go the 1aauto route since you keep BSM. As far as I know there are no oem tow mirrors with BSM.

There aren't, but if you want the OEM and need the BSM, there is a hack I found on here.

I have towed about 10,000 miles with the Trailridge tow mirrors and they perform great! The upper mirror doesn't vibrate any more than stock and the lower mirror allows me to see close up for trailer maneuvering and better blind spot view. I'd definitely buy them again.

I went with a pair that look a lot like the trail ridge but are some other name on Amazon. Honestly I haven’t had any issues with them. Kept the defroster function and power adjustment. Have to slide the out by hand but they were plug and play. Took me longer to get the tools for the job than it did to put them in. I do like the ones posted below and probably would have bought them because of looks.

Very nice. Is that a toy hauler? how does it tow? I'm looking at one like that but not sure if it will be too much or not.

    thanks,

I got mine and installed them today. Link below. I have a 2018 Limited, and it was nice to retain BSM, heated mirrors, and power mirror adjustments. Gained marker lights and turn signals which is awesome. Smoked out lights/signals look great. Be careful installing; the studs can strip easily (I need to get a replacement stud), and also, watch when removing the nuts, that they don’t fall into the door shell; about happened to me...almost mudded my drawers! The only other issue I have is the mirrors do indeed vibrate, like @awq735 stated. Not ridiculously, but noticeable. Seals are seated properly, and nice and tight, but still a little vibrating. I’ll probably get used to it though; it’s a trade-off, retaining factory features and gaining the marker lights, turn signals, and tow extensions, versus a little mirror vibration and not paying the crazy price for factory tow mirrors, which would cause me to lose BSM. I’m overall happy with the $300 spent.

For those with the official Toyota mirrors, does the passenger mirror have a "zoom" effect? I bought a pair of Amazon mirrors, and the passenger mirror is zoomed to the point you can't hardly use it. I returned them and ordered the Toyota ones, but I haven't received them yet.

    Function before sparkle.
The Toyota OEM tow mirror do NOT have "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" glass. It's the same glass on both sides, which appears to be standard mirror. Which is why my tow mirrors are coming off as soon as the summer is over.
