What do you use to seal the lights after polishing? That seems to be the biggest issue with any headlight restoration

That polish/ restoration product claims 1 year protection. It works in like a wax as my last step. I remind all my clients to wax the lights at least once yearly to protect them from UV rays and re-yellowing. Failure to upkeep is the biggest reason lights will re-yellow or haze over again after a restoration.

There is a product from Mickees 37 that offers 3 years protection. I believe it’s closer to a ceramic coating that will seal them for that amount of time. I want to purchase it to offer longer protection but it’s pretty pricey. Something like $60 for a 4 ounce bottle.

Very nice! I have the same question as @Pudge . The one headlight restoration I did went back to hazed up after a few months.

I have done a few and they always looked so good for a short period then hazy. I hear that using 2k clear is now the way to go. It used to be automotive spray lacquer. I think a polymer, sio2, or ceramic product would work okay but again you'll only get a few months, whereas the new 2k clears are pretty amazing as far as longevity goes

2k clear would definitely be the answer but I think you would only get one use out of a can because they are a 2 part "paint" that you mix by popping something on the can. Not very cost effective is you want something to do multiple sets of lights at different times. Maybe regular UV protective clear coat would be okay as well.

Yeah I’ve tried 3 different kinds of clear on my own lights here at home. I got rustoleum enamel to look good on some but not so good on others. Rustoleum also has a lacquer clear that got worse results. Maybe it was a bad painting process but I couldn’t get it to come out clear after drying.
I purchased a can of 2K because of mixed results with others. I however didn’t know it was something that has to be activated and used within 48 hours. It would probably be the best bet if I did 5-6 cars per day because I could use it up and not throw away money.

Yeah that's the only drawback to the 2k, well as far as I know anyway. I have never used it but from reading up about it, it's pretty damn good stuff except the needing to use it up all at once.

Depending on the wax and the washing techniques. I always suggest my clients to do it every two months, as they normally don't follow up with a regular hand wash but rather choose to use automatic car washes or touchless wash, both of which use harsh chemicals and accelerate degradation of the wax.

The Mckees37 headlight coating https://www.mckees37.com/headlight-coating.html works great, I've used it on my cars and B pillars black plastic covers and the results are awesome.
Alternatively I have also been experimenting, on my brothers car, using Mckees37 Hydro Blue SiO2 spray as sealant/protection, after restoring his highly yellowed headlights, for 7 months now and there is no sign of yellowing or cloudiness on the restored plastic, clarity remains optimal. I have been applying the spray once every two months.

I've had good luck finishing head lights with Meguairs Headlight coating. Like $8.xx off Amazon. The little can will cover a handful of cars doing 2x coats each.

I don't think this is the one you got, this looks smaller and cheaper by quite a bit. I wonder if it would dry my truck in a reasonable amount of time? I have about an hour to decide if I'm gonna spend money I really shouldn't, plus what will I do with all my griots PFM drying towels?
    https://www.detailedimage.com/Metro-Vacuums-M11/Blaster-Car-Dryer-P917/
Not much time left but I have had this is my cart at detailedimage since last night. 15% off rarely covers the metrovacs. I would likely add a few more other items to get my money's worth as far as the shipping cost goes. What do you think? Don't mind the junk in the cart, its parts of the 15% coupon.

The Master Blaster unit I purchased for detailing is the 8hp unit. It retails around $400. It’s amazing how quick you can dry off a vehicle.

Dude thank you for your quick response, I was considering this 4hp unit at $200 as that's about $60 off normal. I'm afraid this isnt enough power and I will regret not saving up or waiting for the 8hp model.

@Pudge did you end up purchasing the master blaster? If so, let me know if you want to offload the Griot's pfm towels.

Sorry gents, I couldn't pull the trigger. And I opened up my new XL edgeless PFM towel today to try it out. Wow that thing is bad ass, it seems even more absorbent than the medium size. 2 passes total for the hood and its dry, I'll be using this one more often now that i tried it. I also used my 18v ryobi mini blower to help dry and that little thing does well with a 4ah battery in it. Some day I'll get a real dryer but for now its electric leaf blower and PFMs

No worries and glad you're happy with the way things worked out. I think a dryer would be nice but certainly more of a luxury than a necessity.

It's okay buy I think my expectations were too high. It did a really, really good job of cleaning the glass and I think it took out some scratches but not anything major. Glass is just too hard. I think polishing it like you do your clearcoat and hoping for the same results is unrealistic, so my expectations were unrealistic.
I do not regret buying it or the rayon pads cuz they were both cheap. I do not think a good compound or polish like meg's M105 or M205 would do as good of a job as the ceriglass if that means anything. I will definitely try again and do my side windows come spring time, I will use more water (i think water plus some carpro immolube sprayed liberally will help a lot) and spend more time.

Use the code tundra10 at checkout for 10% off.

Pretty much everything they have is top notch. I haven’t tried any of their compounds or polishes, but everything else I’ve used has been great.

Well I made an impulse buy last night at autogeek at 1159pm. 25%+free shipping +free gifts+ triple miles bonus. Anyway I don't even remember what all I ordered, I think brake buster, solutions finish, ONR and some clay mit towel combo, and some other stuff. All stuff I "needed" to buy at a good deal lol. I'll post up when it gets here.
