Anyone have any luck with car guys products? Wanted a paint sealant to test out and was torn between them and Wolfgang based on review.

just ordered some of the car guys premium “liquid wax high gloss paint sealant” to test out.

plan is to strip wash / iron-x / clay bar / apply sealant as soon as I get a nice cool day.

Also grabbed some shine supply tire cleaner and some “TUF shine tire clear coat” to give my tires their first bath / treatment. Will update with results.

I’ve used it, and it works really well. Good beading and gloss. I haven’t left it alone long enough to see how long it lasts though. It’s a product I always meant to go back to, but never got around to it.

Car Guy moves under the radar quite a bit, but they make good stuff. Their trim restorer is really good, and was my go to before I started using Shine Supply Trim Shield.

Your life as you know it is about to change. Well that's a little dramatic, but you will not believe how good that wise guy tire cleaner is and once you use a tire coating you will wonder why anyone would ever use a tire dressing. Just be sure you get those tires super clean, then when they are clean, clean them again to be sure. The wise guy makes this step much easier

Your optimum thread inspired me to give it a shot lol. Hoping I’ll have similar results with the TUF shine. Reviews seem to be pretty good.

@southboudsteve uses the tuf shine for a few years now and has nothing but good things to say about it. Steve does not use crappy stuff, everything he has ever recommended to me has been phenomenal. I have no doubts that you'll be happy.

If you have a cordless drill, you may want to try the drill brushes I linked in this thread. You have to get your tires beyond clean for the Optimum product, so I assume the Tuf Shine is the same way. Look forward to your results!

definitely gonna have to get that for next time lol.

Decided to go ahead and knock out the wax job today.

For those interested here’s everything that I used:

    9FE36A19-63EC-49CB-99B6-4AE2FF598FDA.jpg

Process went as follows: went to self serve wash to get out of the sun and use their nifty pressure washer. Sprayed truck down really good and washed with strip wash two separate times using two bucket method to get all of the old wax/coatings off. Then dried truck completely. Followed that up with nearly an entire bottle of iron-x (pic below), stuff worked great and made clay barring easier. Pressure washed again to remove all the iron x and then dried it again. Next step was using the megs speed clay (and chem guys lube) which made it a very easy process. Went one panel at a time and then buffed off residue with a microfiber. Last step was car guys liquid wax high gloss paint sealant. Went on easy and came off even easier. Let it cure and haze up for 30 mins before removal. Buffed it a couple times with a clean micro and now she’s done. Took about 2 1/2 hours start to finish.

Got dark on me so no finished product pics until tomorrow morning but here is a pic of the iron-x in action:

Nice job!!! I am still blown away when I see IronX working, it's crazy how much metallic crap sticks in your paint.

Thanks! I was definitely impressed with it. Learned my lesson about not wearing gloves though. That smell is a bitch to get off your hand!

Looks great man, nice job. And you're right about the IronX, it is terrible smelling. I have tried other iron removers, they don't smell quite as bad, but also don't work as well. Ironx is the best out of 3 or 4 I have tried.

Well there goes mo money.
Got a CG clay mitt, CG clay luber, Iron X and CG liquid wax headed my way...and I haven’t even looked at tire stuff.

Thx for the heads up about the Iron X stink.
My nitrile gloves don’t get used as much since my gun cleaning routine has been scaled back. Might as well use them on the truck!

Lol. The instructions on the liquid wax mention that their hybrid spray wax does good on top of it so I’m going to order some to try out after my next wash, will post up my thoughts on it

Truck looks very nice. I bet that paint felt smooth as glass after your decontamination process. Keep us posted as to the longevity of the Car Guys sealant. That seems to be a brand that flies under the radar a lot, and I've always been curious as to how good their stuff is. Most of the strip washes I've tried, including the same Adams one you bought, actually do very little to strip old waxes and/or sealants. Your clay process took care of that for you. The wash soaps in a self-serve are typically not Ph-balanced, and are considerably more harsh than the average car soap...even more harsh than the Adams Strip Wash. There are also tons of products out there which will serve you as a clay lube, as well as performing other tasks. Griots Garage Speed Shine, available at Pep Boys, can be a clay lube and a quick detailer, so you get more bang for your buck with it.

I make sure I never run out of speed shine. It's my go to clay lube and I keep it in my truck for emergency bird shit cleanings. Its cheap and it's good and versatile

4 months later and truck is still beading water from the liquid paint sealant application. I ended up ordering the hybrid spray wax to use on top of it and haven’t had the chance between cold weather and hunting season. Hoping to try that soon but still smile every time I wash the truck at how easy everything comes off. I’m definitely a fan of the car guys products so far.

Pretty sure it was the smaller bottle and I had plenty leftover but I’ll verify in a few when I get back home!
