You can't go wrong with the pellet smoker/grill. I own 7 grills (wood smoker, gas grill, electric smoker, charcoal grill, etc.) and used to alternate between them. Since I got the pellet grill about 4 months ago, I have not touched the others, except for the gas grill a few times. I use the pellet grill about 5 times a week.
Instead of the Traeger, look into other brands. Z-Grills is the exact same thing, down to the control module, but about half the price. Pit Boss is also very good for half the price of the Traeger. I'm not knocking Traeger if that's what you want; just saying that there are other brands where you do not pay double just for the name. Regardless, pellet smoker/grill is working awesome for me.

I'll second this. Traeger is still a good option and what I was originally shopping for when I was in the market, but saw a lot of other options that provided a lot more bang for the buck. My Louisiana Grills pellet smoker is really solid and I got a really good deal at Costco for Father's day. I was also looking at Green Mountain and Pit Boss, with the Green Mountain almost getting the nod had the LG deal not popped up.

Really? Mine is 16 years old and still runs like a champ. Lights up fast and have never had to replace a single part even when sitting out in the elements.

Wanna buy my pellet smoker? :boink:

Weber let their quality go to shit a few years back when I think they sold out from the family-owned business model. They used to have stainless steel-everything options available across their lines, but I think their new stuff is mostly ceramic coated and more likely to rust out than before.

I used to work at a hardware store in college and got to assemble/sell/deliver all the grills and smokers. One delivery netted me a 20 year old Weber 3 burner that just needed new burner cover bars and worked like new.

I did not know that. Good thing that I bought mine a long time ago.

I’d always heard they were super durable, and I’d been through several cheap ones. Guess I should’ve gotten one sooner. One of the doors rusted off on mine, and the electric start only works about half the time.

I’m definitely not intent on the Traeger brand, just considering getting a pellet smoker. I always hated messing with charcoal, so I’ve been using gas grills for probably 20 years now.

Ask her how many uses she gets out of a sack (of pellets).

Then you need quality pellets, not quantity.

I almost forgot. Don't pay much attention to the cooking process; think about baseball or something to you can get annoyed that it's not done yet.

Back when we had family restaurant we use to get hole rib sides, the cap was cut off and used for hamburger. I'm kinda surprised they sell it as a steak.

I've got the same one. I use it quite often. It's an extremely versatile tool to use in the kitchen. Let me know if you've got questions.

Also, check out on you tube "Sous Vide Everything" that is where I've learned a lot about sous vide.

I saw your other post first....what did you do? Seasonings, temp, and time? My first time sucked. Over cooked the meat, didn't sear it long enough and not enough seasoning

Reverse sear t-bone on BGE. Almost 2lbs. Used a cast iron pan for sear. Turned out nice.
