    Mid week afternoon update!

Had to stay home today and work from home while the AC guy was working on my AC... so had some time to do some more work...

Got a door mocked up... and two rear doors started... and got both front seat mounts done... pretty stoked

    Bye doors!!

    Hello tube doors!!

Looking at that rear seat all I can think about is being a kid and making faces at drivers behind. Looks fun.

In the dirt wont the people in rows 2 and 3 bang their heads into each other? Maybe there is more room than the picutre shows

There is almost a foot + between them... it’s deceiving but plenty of room plus only kids will probably be in the far back... if you knock heads something bad happened and doubt that’s the biggest concern at that point ..

Well mid week update, got the doors, final welded, cleaned up and bed lined, today im going to final assemble the door slam latches, then work on the harness bars, and finish up the motor. Just a few little things.

Pretty stoked how is coming out, hope to have it to the exhaust shop this weekend to resolve those issues, then off to the alignment shop.

Well good news, rear harness bar is done, 5 rear harnesses installed. only thing left today is the harness bar for two front seats, then adjust alignment enough to get to the alignment shop later this week. And hopefully tomorrow ill take it in to have the exhaust repaired.

But done with the engine stuff, got the front all back together.. in the next few weeks we will add stereo and lights, but that isn't on the top of the list right now. Trying to get it running and out to my house in parker for the weekend of the 8th for an offroading trip with friends and family. And of course ill post pics and vid of the truck in action once we get it out there!

I'll work on a plan that will enable me and my friends to join you in the tahoe. 2 generations of chopped up lifted chevy SUVs in the desert. Couldn't think of a better day wheeling :burnrubber:

Hell yeah bro, it was so much fun...

i didnt mention the last minute issues with the truck, ended up having to throw a new water pump and power steering pump at it last minute. Which was very annoying but oh well. Its got a tranny leak which i need to address but in the short term im just going to keep putting in fluid LOL

We need to do a power steering pump in the tahoe too. Luckily his dad just bought a shop with 3 bays and 2 lifts so our projects just got a lot easier to work on

That thing is awesome. You mentioned you wanted this for winter fun. Are your winters mild enough that you won't freeze in that thing?

Yeah man winters I’m the desert during the day are like 50’s-60’s colder at night but pants and a sweatshirt and you are good plus this thing puts off some heat w no carpet the motor heat is good in the cab... apparently we may be removing the rear windows too because it’s like a fish bowl in the back and super hot in the sun

Awesome job. Maybe turn into an old school K5 blazer limo. Cut the whole roof off and do a simple roll cage

Sooo let's bump this old thread with a little update on the Bourbon...

So we were having some weird shifting issues. And driveability as well as had a major break on the trail.

    Here's what we found.

Fan blade was bent, causing a bad wobble on the water pump... the water pump exploded.

Fix : Replace the water pump, and remove the factory clutch fan and install a 16" electric fan.

Then took the truck to a shop to have them diag the shifting issues.

The following issues found and fixed.

Timing at 30 degrees advanced, due to the bad distributor
    2 bad knock sensors
    2 bad 02 sensors
    bad throttle position sensor
bad fuel pump and sending unit
    bad belt tensioner
    partially fried computer

was told they didn't know how i drove it 45 minutes to the shop... it shouldn't run. I laughed and said he man its a 454... she just goes LOL

so after many $$$$ and a few weeks the truck is all fixed up and runs like a champ. It's getting to be offroading season around here so expect to see updated pics soon of the old girl out in nature.

I've seen this city cruiser at my neighborhood tire shop a few times. I think you're doing the right thing keeping the roof for off road safety reasons and for shade.
