Yes, they ride worse. But it’s a tighter feeling, so whatever. The noise is during the initial change in momentum.

I realized I did more damage to my bumper than I initially thought. You can see where it folded. Oh well, all the more reason to eventually get the one I want.

ended up getting the order canceled. I’ve never had issues with knockoff stuff on eBay but this listing seemed so legit so I was gonna give it a shot. Oh well.

Thanks for the great video, watched Part 1-3. That helped me make a list of questions when talking to Service Dept in regards to all the parts that can or should be replaced while things are that far apart !

Yeah, I'm getting a bit paranoid about buying oem these days. Nothing worse than forking out money for a quality part and installing a potential fake. Also, even if an item shows as shipping from the US, the seller is often in China or maybe Russia. It'll usually show under feedback.

I'll still purchase on ebay through actual toyota dealerships when I find a deal or if a coupon is available.

This is the best I found right now, and I'm still not sure it's genuine.

I know it would be quite an undertaking, but Ebay, Aliexpress and even Amazon need to start vetting those sellers of items marked OEM. Otherwise they are enablers of these counterfeiting schemes and should be seen as accomplices to their criminal acts.

As I sit here eating Spicy General Tsao Chicken, I feel a small victory for Cody. There is a mathematical formula I use based on stealership pricing.

Stealer price divided by 2 = lowest any other competitor can go.

Another give away on that ‘rink’ to those coils was the lack of reviews (only 1) and the Chinese style syntax used on the only review. Their entire Chinese philosophy is based on Dragon and Panda along with deception tactics when dealing with other countries and even amongst themselves. They are not very good at invention, but excellent at counterfeiting. This is no slight against the Chinese, but just an observation based on experience. They have a different culture and we cannot assume they will have our own best interests in mind. They actually enjoy the game.

Confucius say: Never let same dog bite you twice.

He also say: I call you Grasshopper because you ugly like insect.

Got some rain today and found the dreaded puddle in the back corner. Traced it to the top of the rear window.

Do I have to remove rear window to fix this??

The Chinese were great inventors of the past, and who's to say what may come of the modern Chinese in the area of inventions. I'm inclined to believe they will give the West a real run for technological advances (i.e., inventions) as they are nimble thinkers and very hard workers, quick to adapt and improve. Though we don't work nearly as hard, they are very much like us. My gut feeling is that this will be known as the Chinese Century as they come out of their isolation.

Confucius also say: What goes in, WILL come out....Spicy Tsao, wooo.

Might be in minority here but knowing how long these coil packs have lasted in my 2004 and knowing they are $88 at my dealer, Cool Springs or Toyota Deal, to name a few, I’ll gladly pay to get OEM that I feel are same quality or possibly better given 15 years of technology change.

    just my $.01 worth

How about a more pulled away picture so we can see the bigger picture?

I can tell you I taped off and caulked my roof trim and rear window flange sides and top (not the bottom where the gutter drains by design) with Fuze last year. I no longer have the pics, but they can be found somewhere in this section way way back.

Yep. All the cheap crap parts started after 2001. We are getting everything we deserve/allow from them.

    @BubbaW

One distinction that can get lost on these ignition coils is that Denso makes the part for Toyota.

They (Denso) ALSO makes their own coil which is the same as the Toy coil without the Toy branding.

I believe the Toy branded Denso ones are the ones being counterfeited. Complete with the Toy stickers, etc.

The Denso branded ones seem good. They are less money because they lack the Toy branding.

Well said PHM, I was really just hoping that maybe after 13years oem parts would be cheap but I guess it’s only the quality that’s gone down.
I did do something to my truck today though that I quite like :)

Also, Confucius say packed elevator smells different to midget.

I bought one, my son was wanting a truck so I found this 06 2wd with 112k. I forgot how nice the first gens are, been kinda fun driving it around. He is only 16 so I’m not going to get to carried away with mods, but we are going to lower the rear and put some sort of wheels on it. F4D23567-F752-43ED-868E-86DBCBDDA4D5.jpg

All in due time. This is only really temporary, but I'll do some metal screen and maybe a a little skid plate. Just buying time until I make a bumper. Too many social things going on for the next month or so to get too deep into it.

Cut the bumper and hacked it back on with zip ties and such. I don't hate it. I also cut the frame horns a little to sleeken them up a bit. Still need to do some support brackets.

Edit: after driving some more with my intake routed to the cowl I can say it feels like it has more ass right off the line. I think if I punched it from a stop I could get a little burny going maybe. Top end /freeway driving is hard to tell right now because it's been windy. It sounds mean, but isn't really noticable unless you are getting on it hitting the freeway of downshifting to pass or for a hill or whatever.

Yeah and with a bunch of social and family commitments and comes $$$. My truck budget is non-existent right now. Christmas isn't going to help any either. No matter because I can still cut and fab on a budget as I get time. I might actually have enough scrap DOM tubing for a bumper and possibly rock sliders.

@FrenchToasty and @KarmaKannon welcome to my life! From June through October is what I call "birthday season" in my wifes big family. I'm lucky to get a Friday night to wrench, let alone a weekend.

Thought I had last weekend to do my brakes but ended up being a tour guide through Hollywood and Beverly Hills and other areas I prefer to avoid. Next weekend i may get sucked into Disneyland, so tempted to play sick.

I’ve had a projector retro planned for our 4runner for like 3 years, got the parts, two sets of take off oem housings(went overboard and totally effed the first set) planned to finish them last Xmas break, my old lady was super prego, so all my attention went towards her, haha who knows when those will get done! The tundra has a exciting future!

Still needs some minor adjustments but it's on there. The kit said to reuse the factory bolts on the sides but that must have been for the early steel bumpers as my plastic bumper didn't even attach to the side.of the frame. Anyone know what size those bolts are??
