3 years. Never used the SS, prolly won't bother. I'm happy with it being highly water resistant vs water proof.

I had some small areas along the threading that I could see light through so I sealed them to be safe. Easy to do so why not

I wonder what this thing would look like left on the back of a truck after a few years. Can you leave the sides and rear rolled up and go down the highway, without it being torn up?

I think it will hold up as good as any canopy on a boat. I use 303 protectant spray on it.

An yes it holds up fine on the highway regardless of what’s rolled or not.

    Hey guys, I don’t see an option to utilize the rear window... I wanna leave my 4 legged family members in the bed and have the window open so the kids can check up on them time to time... so the question;

Has anyone customized the forward section into a zip up window for the DC or even the CM? Any pictures?

By rear you mean the one by the cab? I have not seen it. I know you can un-Velcro it, but you will need something to hold it up.

Yes by the cab, I’m wonder if anyone has done it? My biggest concern is the parachute effect if the opening was only near the cab and the rest were to remain closed... anyone tried this with a soft topper?

I have not. I have only driven with the back open.

What if you open the sides and back?

It's been mentioned on here but i havent been able to find links or videos or anything about replacing the velcro with magnets for the back flap... Can anyone point me in the right direction. Im not too keen on putting adhesive on my new truck. Any other options?

I was considering getting a softopper and doing the magnet thing. My plan is to create a pocket with some heavy duty felt or microfiber and put a neodymium magnet in the pocket. I was planning on using some Loctite Vinyl, Fabric & Plastic Flexible Adhesive to create and seal the pockets. Maybe even double layer the side that hits the paint to resist wear.

The Soft Topper thread over at Tacomaworld shows details on using the magnets on the back flap.

Hey Guys, new to the forum but have had my Tundra since 2006.

I have a bed tent which works pretty well but it's a pain to take down/set up every day when I'm camping so I can drive the truck during the day. I'm thinking about a Softopper but from what I can tell there isn't a way to open/close the back from inside the bed. Can anyone advise if that is the case and if there are any workarounds?

I’ve camped inside the bed with a softopper and it has a zipper in the inside where you can open/close the back flap.

hey, not to bring up an oldish thread, but does anyone have a picture looking down the bedrails so that I can see how much of the bedrails its supposed to cover? a bonus would be pictures of the front of the bed and the tailgate where the flap hangs over. trying to get an idea of how ones supposed to look installed, tolerances and such.

The last pick kind of shows the amount of bed rail exposed after the frame is clamped down.

Quite a bit. Not enough to set a beer can on though.

I think they did this to make the thing a bit more universal. I put the ST on my buddies F150 and it actually looked like a better fit. Still I love the usefulness of the thing. (please don't shun me for the F150 part).

Ones that have these toppers, are the clamps interchangeable if truck has the oem rails or not? Not sure if that makes sense but looking at a used one atm.

I want to say I'm 90% sure they are. I picked up an extra pair that came off an old fiberglass rigid cap. They do the job perfectly. I like having 6 clamps vs the 4 that came with the ST.

The ones I got from a different truck worked fine with mine. The ones I got weren't for the tie down rail and they still worked for under the bed rail.
