Considering getting an inversion table, hearing Teeter are good choice.
Middle age and poor posture over the years seem to be giving me lots of back and neck discomfort. Hoping some decompression with something like the Teeter may help out.
Any Doctors or Health care guys have any input?
Or anyone use something like this with good results?

I have a teeter and have been using it for about 4 years. I only use it occasionally though. I have lower back issues and it can help with that depending on what you have going on. Inversion tables work best for lower mid back issues, not so much for neck and upper back, you just can’t get the same tension on those areas like you can for the lower back. I am glad I have it, it’s not a fix it all for me, but it has definitely relieved some pain in the past.

I have one, it mostly holds clothes but when I need it, it helps.

We have one as well, it helps when lower back hurts, but not a ton. My PT actually said it's great for short-term pain management, but don't expect any long-term fix by using it. Started doing dry-needling and it has worked wonders.

It works for my lower back. I was taking 800mg of ibuprofen a day for almost a year before I got my Teeter. Now I rarely take anything for my back.

These are great - but absolutely a temporary fix. You should be in regular PT and diligent with exercises and stretching if not already doing so.

(this message brought to you by someone who has worked in the sports medicine field for 25 years and has a history of 14 epidural injections, a microdiscectomy, a lumbar fusion......with pending multi level fusion in the next 12-18 months).

Without knowing your situation fully, I can tell you that most back pain is muscle related. Go to PT or get yourself a nightly routine of stretching and strengthening movements. Getting those back muscles strong and firing properly will take care of pain and protect your spine from incidents down the road, such as picking up a piece of paper and herniating a disc.

The simplest answer is to start doing yoga. There are episodes you can stream on Amazon or Netflix. I like the yoga body series with Julia Marie. You can pretty much just pick whatever episode you feel like on a given da . There are core elements in each one, such as downward dog. I yoga before pretty much any physical activity now and I don't get sore the way I used to. Plus my flexibility and core strength has improved significantly. 200lbs, 40 years old and I can do a halfway decent back bridge. Ten years ago I couldnt trim the grass without spending the rest of the evening flat on my back in misery. Only one person other than my wife has taken my yoga advice, and it basically gave that guy back his ability to run. People like to complain but they usually arent willing to do anything about it.

In my case it is not a temperary fix. Fyi I go on it 3 times a day morning afrter working ou t befor bed only take 2 mins to work sometime I can hear my lower back go back in other times I can't. Big bonus takes pressure of my knee and hips that gravity pushes down on our bodies all day long. One last thing when laying sown flat like in bed there is 25% pressure still in the verts in our backs. totally up side down 0% from up to down pressure. I sound like informerical sorry just works for me !! Some don't get the same results of course. I got my ortho ok to try this. So get an expert advise that knows what issues you have !!!!!!!! Before you go totally invert.

    Thanks for the info guys.

A little history: A few years back I had some numbness in my left hand and serious discomfort in the upper left arm. No MRI, but GP and PT treated for pinch nerve in lower neck, posture related. Muscle relaxers, Better posture, some stretches, and exercises alleviated the issues. 7-8 years later, I am experiencing some discomfort in the left arm again and discomfort in upper back / neck. I believe ergonomics and posture are the issue. Trying to correct both. I am doing many of the stretches and exercises that I did back then. One thing that seemed to help a lot at PT was a "Traction" (maybe calling it wrong) device, while lying down grabbed my head & pushed from my shoulders to decompress the upper vertebra for ten minutes at the end of each session. I would fall asleep sometimes; it was really relaxing. I was hoping the inversion thing may accomplish similar results. I have always heard / thought that decompressing the vertebra is therapeutic and helps with back issues.

Again, not saying not to do the inversion table, but it IS a temporary fix. Don’t assume these issues are the same as 7-8 years ago. You owe it to yourself to get a full work up and consult to determine the cause and treatment protocol. The inversion table certainly can help supplement that course of treatment and will not hurt progress. If you want to chat off lone PM me and we can exchange information.

My statement of this being temporary refers the the fact that the effects of an inversion table do not last. The hope is that an inversion table or traction is supplemental to addressing an actual fix to the issue - long term strengthening, stretching and other ways to actively decompress the nerve irritation. The traction / inversion is a passive addressing of the situation. An epidural may be beneficial in decreasing the swelling and irritation to get you to a point where you can effectively rehab. But certainly USE an inversion table.

I've got 2 of them, 1 for home use and the other one is at my deployed location. There will be a 3rd one at our new site. My company is really good about taking care of its veterans.

Keeping your core strong is very important when you have back problems.
I use my inversion table frequently, core excercises and Meloxicam for pain management.

I’ve been thinking about getting one. I have responded very well with the traction machine my PT has me on. He says an inversion table can help just like the traction.

I’ve got 2 herniated discs in my lower back (L4-L5 and L5-S1) and have been down for 6 months now. I’ve had 3 epidural injections and 1-2 visits to my PT every week since my injury.
It’s been very frustrating but I’ve made a ton of progress in the last 2 months since my 3rd shot.

Integra Physical Therapy in Pflugerville, Texas is awesome. Great people and the PT Isiah Martinez is awesome at what he does and is very passionate about his work.

I agree getting checked out again would be a good thing. I had a similar back injury 3 years ago so this time I started the exercises again before getting checked out. Definitely wasn’t a good idea.

I just used mine. I hurt my back lugging my 60lb spring compressor inside Thursday.

The back feels 100% better. I also put the clothes that were on it away.

    lol
