I know @Eclipsed & Floating ran a similar setup on his Tundra, don’t recall the width on his wheels. Check the 3rd gen builds section, his build may still be there.

I ran 35x12.5 toyos on 18x9 method wheels with +18 offset i believe.

They rubbed the body mounts even with the body mount chop. I had to turn the coilovers up to about 3.25 inches to not rub on the street. It rode like crap turned up that high

    Wider wheel would rub worse

Thanks, that’s unfortunate news but great info.
The Rough Country website recommends a 295/70R18 tire up to a +25 offset so I guess I just stick with that. I guess that’s around a 34x12R18?
I don’t mind trimming a little but I’m not sure about the body mount chop.

    295/70/18 is 34.3 inches tall, 11.6 wide. Those won't clear either. I'd look at a 33x12.50 tire.

Don’t be afraid to cut the body mount. It is 100% as strong as it was when done.

If you want 35x12 you gotta follow icon’s example. They run a slightly narrower wheel, I believe 8.5 inch wide, with the perfect backspacing to fit with a 3 inch lift

Added thought. The rough country 3.5 kit is garbage do not buy it.

Dude, there are an absolute shitload of people on this site running 295/70’s on 2-3” of lift, myself included. Mine only rub on the front bumper at fully lock, none at all on the cab mount. And the only reason it rubs on the front bumper because I haven’t adjusted the driver’s side coil over to a full 3” of lift.

Why would rough country recommend a size that doesn’t fit? If I go 33’s I’m gonna run a thinner tire. Can anyone tell the specs on this truck from the pics? I like the way it sits.

Some of these have 35x12.50’s on 3”. What did they modify to fit them?

Thanks dude! I’ll have to study up on the bmc then.
I will be running factory 18’s for a while but I need tires almost now so I was hoping to go ahead and get the lift and tires I wanted. But I guess that explains why rough country’s is almost half the price of other kits.
I appreciate it man. It’s good to hear both sides. I don’t like rubbing however if there’s a way to alter the truck in a safe and tasteful manner so that I can clear the tires that fit my vision for the truck then I’m open to it.

Stock wheels are 8 inches wide. So they will tuck the tire better. Even with 1.25 wheel spacers you will be farther from the body mount than an 18x9 wheel will be.

Dude, the only reason you know mine rubs a minuscule amount is because I disclosed it. And that will disappear once I adjust the coils up to make it level side to side with the passenger side of the vehicle. I’m currently at 3” of lift on the passenger, around 2.75” on the driver. That rubbing issue is due to Yota Lean and me not adjusting for it, not tire size. So “rubbing is not always rubbing,” at least in the context you were referring to.

It was the exact same setup. A bit of rubbing until I got properly aligned. Still does it a full lock but only in reverse, and I used to wheel with a ton of weight regularly. Not hard wheeling, but significant off roading

Would love to get brush guard, tail light guard, runner boards, windwisors, reverse camera, camper shell with windoors hi cab models, lift kit, bid wider tires best traction in snow, rain, off road, etc etc
hello folks - i have just been born in just last few seconds into this world of lifts, may need some education here. the only time i came to know about these lifts is when the toyota dealer guy told me you need lift if you bigger tires, so can someone help me with what are the badass tires out there with costs so i know which ones has got the looks i need, robustness i need and fits the cost, then we can backtrack from there about how much life and other things i need, please remember i'm going to become 3.5k poorer once i put the new shell i'm planning on putting onto my 2012 looooong bed.....also what you guys think about the k2s or the falken wilkpeak? or do they not even count in the top 10 badass tire list? i'm taking best snow, rain, road traction , dont give much damn about tire noise unless i should, and then there is gas mileage - and yes the pics above look really cool - i think i'm not settling for anything less than 6" lift, it seems that where the game starts

    Total chaos uca, yes alignment.

I think toyo are just very true to size 35x12.5 tires. Seems bigger than a previous brand on my last truck

all the things you said you have put on them - didnt make sense to me given my very limited knowledge but those are some bigger tires, i could see front side of your tires are almost touching the bumper on the top corner - look COOOOOOOOOOL
