Guy on local facebook car group posted this pic at Costco and several replies said "So what, thats how we do at our shop, it's just plastic", am I off base thinking "OH Hell no!!!!". To be fair most people said it was BS, but more than 3-4 said it was not unusual.

The employee needs an 'in service' on how to operate a vehicle lift. Even I know better than this . . .

They should have some spacers to attach onto the lift arms that would allow the arms to clear the body.

Uh, f**k no. I actually took my car (before I traded it :() to a shop for an oil change and tire rotation, and the tech said "Our lift can't do your car without potentially damaging the skirting. We are happy to do the other services, but we will not damage your car to rotate the tires."

I'd have told them to get a jack and stands then. That's a lame ass excuse. More than one way to do a job. Even if not most convenient

Unless it's the angle of the picture you can actually see where pressure is being placed on the side molding as the gap between the door and the ground effect body panel appear to close where the lift arm is placed.

This reminds me of when I went to see the monster truck show several years ago.

In between rounds of the professional monster trucks, they had a "Tough Truck" competition where people could run through a course with jumps, etc in whatever they brought to the track. There was a guy who had an older Toyota truck, maybe 80's vintage, who was running strong all night. He kept qualifying for the next round each time out. The truck was a rustbucket and we noticed that it was flexing more and more in the center each time he landed a jump.

On his last run, the frame broke right in half, but he kept driving, looking straight up at the sky. Needless to say he didn't come out for the next round, even though he actually made a good enough time to qualify.

Yeah I would be pissed if I knew that had happened. I'm good about checking my car/truck after any shop visit for reasons like this.

Years ago I had a BMW M3 and it went in for an oil change at the dealer. Dealership was under construction so they pretty much had to take it offroading to get to the service bays. The tech skuffed the crap out of the front lip. I noticed it immediately when I picked up the car and the service advisor just said "well looks like we screwed up and own you a new front bumper! That definitely wasn't like that when you dropped it off". Gave me a sweet brand new 5-series as a loaner car for the week though. Shit happens but they at leased owned up to it and fixed it.

Not sure I would be that upset if that was actually my car. Put out of its misery.
