@iHacker I sent you a PM. I am interested in a dimming harness. Going with the 2019 TRD Lights. Currently running the 2015 limited halogens.

    Question
I have 14 limited with harness from the other guy. My tundra wouldn’t start and was towed from airport this week. Dealership says I needed a new starter relay and that they had to unplug the fuse tap to get it started. What would cause this? Bad fuse tap? I have had lights installed for year and half with no issues until now.
    Thanks

    Hello,

Sorry to hear about your problem I hope everything is good now, make sure there’s no chewed wires check the fuse tap wire carefully from start to end, also check for water damage. If everything looks ok then isn’t a harness problem and your dealership just found the perfect excuse and blamed the harness to be the cause they like to do that I know that for sure.

20190820_144756886_iOS_filter.jpg Picked up the harness from @iHacker several months ago. Finally got around to getting the headlights swapped out on my 2014 Platinum. Silly simple! Thank you @iHacker. I know, it needs a wash.

Is there anyone in socal who can help with this install? I have zero wiring experience and would prefer the dimming option which requires going through the firewall. I am happy to pay for time and assistance.

The hardest part for me was getting my hands and fingers into hard to reach areas. The wiring is straight forward with the instructions provided on the first page. I was able to use a tac to depin the amber DRL. I do have to say there is a trick to that if using a tac. I was about to give up and order a depinning tool before I gave it another shot after walking away for a moment. Don’t be afraid to give it a shot.

Yet another @iHacker harness fan. 2nd one for a 2nd tundra. This one is a plug and play no de pinning since I had the led strip at the bottom of my old lights.
Simple and everything works as it should. Thanks @iHacker you are awesome for coming up with this.

I need everyone’s opinion. Depin or tap into grey wire? Can’t decide whether I want the ambers on or not.

Depin no question. Looks cleaner without the orange dots and just the LED DRL.

It’s all about preference. Had I done the always bright DRL harness then yes I would have swapped my markers for brighter LEDs. I hear they’re tough to see when the DRL is full bright with headlights on.

Just finished my install today. Did the dimming DRL’s on a ‘17 Limited. Couldn’t get the grey wire depinned and after an hr got mad and cut it. Might have permanently screwed up that hole in the connector. After cutting the grey wire I then solder the connection. After getting everything plugged in and connected I go to start the truck and check the functions. Truck starts right up and immediately dies. At that point I’m thinking I’ve somehow totally screwed my truck up, but also thinking it’s mostly plug and play so what did I do wrong. Checked fuses, checked light functions with truck off, and everything was fine. Started it a second time and all was good. Not sure what the deal was with that, but scared the crap out of me.

Good news they look amazing and everything is functioning correctly. All in all not bad except for the depin issue.

Good deal, soldering that gray wire in my opinion is the best way to go if you don’t have plans to go back to the old stock headlights.

And for that problem you had with the truck dying right after you turned it ON is totally normal and it happens when ECU detects new additions to the system or most of the time happens just for disconnecting the battery for sometime, if after the second time turning the truck ON the problem is still there then that’s when you have to start worrying about.

I’m glad for you that everything is working as it should now.

Thank you for sharing your experiences.

    Have a nice weekend

That’s good to know on the ECU. Thanks for the awesome product and detailed instructions. I love how it looks and the light output is great.

I’m horrible at electrical stuff so if anyone is on the fence don’t be. If I had it to do over I’d cut the grey wire from the beginning and it would’ve been smooth sailing. Only tricky part was soldering in a tight space.

    Hey iHacker,

I tried messaging you via your profile. I would like to order the harness for converting my 2014 to a 2019 headlight, non dimmable option. I purchased the headlights from Roman at Cool Springs already. I'd appreciate your help. Thank you!
