I think he is selling floor wax to put on cars if you over do it with floor wac you get that build up, but you dont see the scratches like you would on paint.

It’s pretty difficult to rub it off when it’s soft.

Regardless, I’m sure he’d be happy to help you. Jeremy at Shine Supply may have some ideas also. Even the guys at TRC are pretty good about responding to emails.

Once the coating cures/crystallizes heat will not affect it.

@Pudge I would not venture and start adding other chemicals to it, we don't know how the coating will react to them and it may make the issue worse. I would stay put and watch it flake off. One thing you can do is wash it more often to increase the degradation on the rest.

Yeah that's ideal and I'm sure itll speed things along, so would leaving the truck outside in the sun. It sucks cuz it's getting cold here now so I am washing less frequently and I always garage it when I am home. I hope it'll go fast now that it's visibly failing. Every day I find new spots.

I would polish it off. You don’t know what the heck he used with that crap coating. Snake oil probably. I would polish it off asap. To get you thru the winter use gyeon wet coat. Love this stuff. But I use a dry method for it. Take a damp
Microfiber applicator and spray one or two spritzes on the pad. This is when the truck is clean and dry. Wipe over one panel at a time and then dry. Do not buff wet coat. This method saves product and gives more long term protection. A coating flaking is bs. No way I would could live with that or look at it. Tac systems Moonlight is my base protection. Technically not a “coating” but it is honestly. These two products together are home runs. Wet coat is my favorite detailing product. Stuff is unbelievable on black paint. So any other color is a hit as well. Gloss is very good

I'm worried that the flaking, crystallized, crap will cause swirls or some kind of marring when it's polished. It really sucks because it's a tough call deciding what to do here

I think you will be fine. Decon and clay. And then compound or polish. Might need a compound. Not going to hurt anything. Get that crap off the paint. I wouldn’t trust it honestly. And most importantly for me in your shoes. Your experience with this bs coating is over doing this. F off Dallas fraud loser

I worry about grinding the dried coating into my clear coat. I really do wanna get it all off so I can do my normal pre winter maintenance and paint protection

Thanks for the post OP! I thought it was just my batch! I used it on my Tundra and Odyssey and so far nothing negative yet. I also have an M3 which I used CPro and the difference is night and day. Definitely get what you pay for! Here's a pic of my bottle after sitting for two weeks in a dark cardboard box. I live in San Francisco so it's not cold or hot here. I sent them an email so hopefully they'll reply. Thing that sucks is I bought two bottles!

I had to go thru PayPal and dispute it. I was one of the first people to buy it and they claimed no responsibility, told me it was my fault and said there were no defects with
his product. I documented it pretty well here, emails included. He is far from a a standup guy. He is a complete sell out and a joke

Hi Pudge. I don't own a Tundra...actually an X5 and a Cayman but I was searching the internet in the wee hours of the morning and came across your thread. I read the whole thing...I, too, bought Armor and Shield on the initial launch. I was planning on doing a complete paint correction on my wife's brand new X5 in the fall which I have done (amazing how new cars have awful paint). When I got the Shield I left it in the box and just stored it, never opened, in my cabinet. When I went to get it the entire bottle had "gelled" and turned to goo. I emailed Scott and he did respond quickly. However, like your experience I was not offered a refund, etc., but a "free bottle" with my next order. I'm not sure if that's so he doesn't have to expense the shipping cost or whatever but nevertheless it's useless since A) he's out of stock B) no mention of reformulating C) my project car is polished to perfection and needs a coating NOW. At any rate he did admit to others having the same problem, etc., and he states he sent some returned bottles back to his supplier for analysis. I have no idea if that's some dude sitting in a garage making garbage can batches of this stuff or what. I do appreciate his videos, I think he was well intentioned but I do agree this is not good customer service. I'm debating on using the "Armor" product since I have it already and it's going to waste if I don't. Anyway, thanks for making this thread. I had a tiny bit of liquid left in my bottle of Shield but I'll just toss it, not worth the risk to an $80K SUV...and making my wife mad. IMG_1024.jpg

Ugh man I'm sorry this happened to you too. It makes my blood boil when I hear more about this. It's so bad that you didnt even get to open the bottle before it went bad. Absolutely unacceptable, and even more unacceptable that he knows this is his fault and not your fault yet he offers you no refund. I would start a credit card or PayPal dispute immediately. I would definitely stay away from the armour as well because who knows how shitty that could be. Scott is a complete piece if shit in my eyes, and a thief at this point. I found his offer a a discount or free bottle on your NEXT order to be insulting and it shows is arrogance and ignorance, he really thinks you would buy more shit from him? What an ass. I really hope you get some money back, don't give up til you do.
The worst part is that you lost your time, you probably spent hours or days doing paint correction and now you can't add a layer of protection any time soon, or until a new shipment arrives. Your time is priceless and this ass wasted your time.

Hop on autogeek or detailedimage, they both have sales and amazing customer service and fast shipping order up some Cquartz 3.0 and reload. That's legit stuff and just slightly more than the DPC crap.

Keep on him, file a dispute, contact the BBB and don't let up. This guy deserves everything coming to him. He is a scammer and a lying thief

Good video, around the 4 minute mark he mentions that shield has been taken off the market due to storage and longevity issues.
Also shows how this stuff does not hold up nearly as well as another value coating.

This video should be the death of Shield for anyone who watches it. Doesn’t perform nearly as well as CQuartz Lite, and the price is slightly better for the CarPro product.

One of Scott’s constant arguments was how his product was more affordable than other ceramic coatings. He and his followers constantly used that as an argument that even with the shortcomings, it was still a better value than you could get elsewhere.

This 100% proves him wrong. CQuartz Lite is a dollar less per ounce, and performs better. On top of that, Carpro is a company with an exceptional reputation, and a proven track record. Had they seen issues remotely like DPC Shield has, they wouldn’t have spent a second making excuses. They’d have pulled the product, and immediately refunded anyone who purchased it, no questions asked.

And this thread is STILL the number two result on a Google search of DPC Shield!!! Perfect example of consumers / community coming together and making a difference / saving people from this “coatastophe”!!

He still doesn't admit to the old stuff being a problem. He says even if it does congeal and harden that its still a value even if you cant use it all. He is such a clown. One of these days he will get what's coming to him.
