Last week was the first time I’ve had a TPMS warning for a legit low tire pressure. In about 9 years of having TPMS on my vehicle. Checked pressures, sure enough, left rear was down to 24 psi. Topped it up with my favourite nitrogen blend, and three days later the light came on again. Topped it up again, now to find time to visit the tire shop...

I gotta say, it’s not all bad. I will say though, I do check pressures with a gauge less frequently than I used to.

Thank god! I hate these. Have never paid for a set of sensors and never will. Thanks for the post!

Confirmed. 10 minutes, a razor blade, and 3" of electrical tape, my pesky light is cured using this method.

i know this is an old post but I am having the same issue in that I would like to disable TPMS on my 05 Tundra. I have read all the threads and know radio shack is out of business now. I think I have located the TPMS unit in the upper right side of glove box location. Mine is blue box not grey. I have not pulled the TPMS unit out to look at it but after the blown fuse issue wanting to ask if there were any more clarifications I should be aware of before attempting this?

On another issue last weekend I pulled the instrument cluster out to fix a squeak in the dash and when I put it back in everything works now except no odometer reading, just underlines where numbers should be on the odometer and the same for the two trip meters. Any ideas on how to pull the odometer reading back in. I’m thinking the mileage reading isstore in the vehicles computer. Is there a procedure to pull it back in? I drove it town afterwards about 20 miles each way thinking that might do it but still no odometer reading.

Took me 15 minutes on my 2014, I'm a little slow! Installed an aftermarket stereo with the ability to show engine functions. It would only show the tpms screen as there was an error code due to no sensors.Next time I need tires I will revert back and add the sensors to my fuel's for piece of mind.

Did this to my wife’s 08’ Tundra. Had some code about the TPMS computer not being able to communicate. Months of research and swapping out the TPMS computer, receiver, and sensors but still no avail. Over $1,000 later and Toyota charging me $200 to tell me they couldn’t find the issue, I decided to do this. It worked like a charm! Stupid blinking light is finally off. Thank you guys for this posts.

I just did this, thanks, OP and other contributors, this was a simple mod to do. I have a 2010 Limited, I did not have to take off the glove box. All I needed to take off is the lower valance in the picture. Once this was off, it was on the right side, it's a gray box that says "computer tire pressure monitor" (or close to that) . Unplugged the harness, cut and scotchlocked the appropriate wires , and done.

After all this time I finally had enough of the light and exhausted every possible (in my mind) fix. I decided to cut the light green and attach to the primary yellow wire. The aggravating as shit light is gone and for good I would think. Thanks for the help.

My truck didn't come with sensors but did come with the dash warning light.

Toyota dealership sold me 4 OEM's for $200 and I had them installed at a local tire shop while I replaced rubber.

I asked the OKTire tech and was told no special scanner is needed and continued to install and program them for free since I was changing rubber from winter to summer @$108

He didn’t need a scanner because he had direct access to the sensors and could read the serial numbers by sight. If you can’t read the sensors (you bought used wheels and tires with tpms in them and aren’t cracking the set open for new tires) then you need a scanner to get the serial numbers.

I just checked my 2019 and the module isn't in the same location, or if it is it looks completely different than anything in this thread. I'm guessing they moved it or redesigned it at some point.

I just did this and it looks to have worked perfectly so far. Bye bye low pressure light.

I cut the light green wire at the connector and used a quick connector to tap into the yellow low voltage line. Best of luck to anyone else that tries this.

    I'm working on it

Did you switch out your air

Dont leave summer air in your tires

You must replace it with winter air

    I'm working on it

So you connected it straight to the yellow wire without a resistor

In OP. He shows a picture with 2 resistors in line

Or that for something else ???

For what years & models does this work? All cabs: Regular, Double, CrewMax?
Thanks...before I start looking for cabling & cutting stuff, I'd like to make sure this will work.

I just did this to my 07 DC and want to personally thank whoever the genius was who came up with this hack. TPMS has been nothing but a cash grab for Toyota and having driven for 30+ years without it I'm well accustomed to a tire gauge and compressor to keep my damn tires inflated to the right pressure. I had a piece of electrical tape over the light on my 06 and this is a much better solution.

I just came to see this thread and got an 06 Tundra and the Tire Pressure Monitoring System light suddenly blink. I add pressure to the tire the night before and this morning while driving it suddenly turns on and blinking. Does the TPMS got reactivated too and blinks if the the tire pressure is a about 2 PSI higher in the front. I normally run 30 in the front and 32 in the rear. Yesterday I inflate the front up to 32 . Will that trigger the sensor? please advice.

Check your spare tire. If that has similar pressure then you probably have a bad sensor in which case you have two options, take it to a tire store or the dealer and have it replaced or disable the TPMS as discussed above.

Thank you for your reply. I will lessen the air pressure on front tire and see what happens. Happy holidays.

I put the tire pressure back into the manufacturer's recommended pressure which is 29 front and 32 rear and the blinking TPMS light disappeared.

I just recently spent hours trying to fix why all my lights were on. My vsc, slip light engine light and tps were on. Flashing and driving me crazy. I put all my tires to factory recommended psi. I finally out of frustration bypassed the tps sensor ,and guess what. Al my lights went off and stayed off. I was so close to trading my tundra for a gmc or Ford. But now I'm happy to stay a tundra man.

I agree it's a stupid system in how it is set up. Meaning it's good for those that could use it, but you should be able to flip a switch and shut it off if you dont want it. You can shut off the passenger side air bags, why not this. I can't believe Toyota didn't see this coming. It's a vehicle alot of people are going to be changing rims on. Compared to say a Prius.
