Hi guys, recently bought a 2012 Tundra Limited, double cab, RWD. For the last 4 or 5 weeks I have been researching wheels, tires, fender mods, and lift/level kits. I held in my newbie questions as much as I could! I think I found the setup I want, can you tell me if this would work?

Level kit: Bilstein 5100 (2.5" front) with 1" block in the rear
Wheels: Fuel Assault 20x9, 1 offset
    Tires: Nitto Terra Grappler G2 - 295/60/20 (33.94" by 11.77")

I'm just wanting to have some input on fitment before I spend thousand$ of dollar$ on mod$. Anyone have a similar setup that can comment on rubbing? Thanks!

Should have no problem fitting those wheel/tire setups. Only thing I'd look into is getting some new CoachBuilder or ToyTec shackles for rear lift instead of blocks. Safer route and will give you a MUCH better riding truck.
I just did the 5100 lift with CoachBuilder +2 shackles in rear. Looks perfect for me. The +2 shackles give you 1.25" of lift. The rear is exactly 1" higher than front now.

Oh, and I have 33x12.5x20 MT's and had zero rubbing. My wheels are a 35 offset.

Thanks for the prompt reply! I had read that add-a-leafs made the ride too stiff, but I didn't read much into shackles... I will now.

Most of the time, I drive the truck by myself, no load, no trailer. But sometimes, I will be loading construction material or hauling a trailer so I do want to keep the rear a little raised.

    Great looking Tundra BTW!

Thanks! Since we're on the subject... These were my runner up wheels that are starting to make a comeback in my indecisive mind:

KMC XD Series Rockstar 2's - 20x9, 0 offset "MACHINED FACE W/ S-BLK WINDOWS" (same fitment as the Fuel Assaults)

I have yet to see that setup and color combo on a Tundra, but I think they can look great, especially on a white truck.

Welcome from CO. I agree with the Capt. I have AALs and shackle combo and I am really pleased with this setup. ( 2" additional rear lift in total. 1 " with AAL + 1" with shackles.) The ride was great this weekend. First time out with this setup. On and off road. I don't recall having any bed bounce come to think of it now either. Shackles aren't too difficult to put on yourself. I did have the XD Monsters. Liked the look, except for the chrome fake bolts that I plasti dipped black, but hated to clean. Went with the FN BFD 18X9s. Rockstar 2's are cool along with the G2's. IMO

Those are pretty low offset. My guess is that you will have to chop the body mount. I have 18 mm offset wheels with 295/70/18 and my tires are only a few mm away from the body mount.

That sounds terrible! I wouldn't want to cut any metal parts. According to my calculations... you have a 34.3" tall tire though, the 295/60/20 is 33.9" tall. Is the body mount close to the bottom of the tire or the side of it? Does the negative offset help get the wheel/tire away from all that stuff that it could rub on?

Thanks again for all the help guys!

Just get the CMC done ....you'll be able to stuff 35's in there with the proper offset too.

As much as I appreciate the info, I rather not get into any of that... I mod my car too much and I'm trying to to get too involved in my new truck lol Can you see me failing already?

The primary factor with the body mount is the lateral position of the tires. The wheel offset is the key. If you want larger tires, get wheels with about 35 mm offset. You will even be able to install 35 inch tires without chopping anything serious.

I am like you. I do not want to chop any metal parts of my truck. That's why I opted to get 18 mm offset wheels in order to match the pocket style fender flares. Long story, but my fender flares turned out to be most expensive mod to date, haha. When I got the wheels, I knew that I couldn't install anything larger than about 34.5. I was surprised how close the tires were to the body mount, but there is no rubbing. (I think my truck tends to push out the wheels a little more than average.)

Just revisiting the setup and ready to pull the trigger as soon as I figure it out. What size tires do you have on the +18 wheels? Right now, if I can make the 295/60/20's fit on a +1 offset, I will be damn happy! Plan B is a +20 offset on the same tires.

I have 295/70/18 which slightly larger than 295/60/20. Go with plan B. You will likely have to cut the body mount with plan A.

I'm just about to order up my wheel and tire combo and my research has brought me to pretty much what Chphilo says ...

Nearly every wheel and tire website I've been on suggest I run a 305/55 tire. But since I'm going with a 3/1 level I decided to go bigger sidewall while running a narrower foot print with the 295/60.

I ended up playing it safe and going with 285/60/20, but couldn't go without the aggressive 1 offset. Will post results once everything is installed. Pic attached of the tires, they got here first.

Bro, when I first got my tundra I was like hell no I'm not cutting anything so I guess I'll go 295/70/18. Now that I have been educated a little bit about modding this truck I know it isn't as big of deal as I thought. IMO my truck looks decent with the 295s and it runs/performs great but I wish I would have cut that shit and went 35s haha :)

Yeah I could see that happening to me also lol
But this is my work truck too, so it's not just about the baddest looking wheels/tires/lift, have to appear somewhat professional and has to be functional as I get in and out of it 100 times a day. I'm expecting my "final decision" to make the truck look cool but within the limits of a normal vehicle people can get in and out of, and to be used 99% of the time in paved roads.

so where are the pics? any issues running with 285/60's? I ended up ordering 295/60 on a +20mm. Should be here next week ...

Here it is! I'm super happy with how it came out. Had to trim some plastic stuff on the front, and remove the tiny mud flaps. Tire is about 0" from the body mount, if I had gone 1 tire size bigger it would have been a problem. If you ask me, this is the sweet spot!IMG_0522.jpg IMG_0482.jpg IMG_0511.jpg

Bilstein 5100's all around, with 1 shim in the front (0.5") and shackles in the rear (1.25" lift). So essentially a 3/1 level kit, but done right.

Tires are Wrangler Duratrac 285/60/20's. +1 offset wheels. Only tiny complaint is how absurdly heavy the new wheels and tires are, but I guess there's no way around that...
