Hate to say it but it honestly sounds like one may be out of round or balanced incorrectly.

Nothing... I hear thump and then a bang... That's all she wrote...

You don't have to hit anything for a tire to blow o_O

At first it looks like your rim is cracked. But looking closer it’s just a piece of tire hanging over the edge.

The wheel didn't get damage it lost the powder coating from getting beat until it got it stopped. .. unfortunately the black the guy has at his shop is not the same matte black the wheels have so all get redone..

Might be cheaper to buy a new rim and just keep that one for the spare

Fnwheels when this happen didn't have any black ones in stock.. :(... I will buy a spare from them and sent to to the shop to match the other 4 I guess..

I found out 16 year old tire did good for 15 miles till I got home... But it's toast too.. dry rotted...

Curious, was the tire that blew out P rated or E? I’m thinking of getting the ATP’s, E rated. So far I’ve heard good things.

I almost had that happen to me basically. Would be good to know if it was an LT or P rated tire.

Wish me luck. If my wife has a tire problem it will be all my fault. They look good on her gx 460. 20190910_114802.jpg

Looks good. Our previous Gx's chewed thru tires, about 20 k miles on stocks. Both leased. Traded in instead of buying new tires, LOL
Figured the weight and 4wd were too much for stock tires.

Seeing how the thread was dug up I have an update. The tires on my wife's GX have been great. One has a patch due to a screw. They have been wearing good.

I have about 2k miles on my Discoverer ATS 4s tires. They do great, smoother than the OEM 20's, much better in the snow and gas mileage is the same as the crappy all season Bridgestones. If you are hauling heavy loads then go with the XLT version. But since I do not tow nor ever get close to maxing out on weight, these tires work for me.

Forgot to mention, ironically we bought my wife a nice used 2015 Durango R/T shortly after I swapped tires on the truck.....and it has.....you guessed it, AT3 4S tires on it. They had just been put on, only had about 6k miles on them. They are on 20” wheels and have not had a single issue with them. Ride smooth, wearing evenly, quiet on the road, relatively good fuel mileage on the highway (17-18 @ 80mph, not bad for an AWD v8 eh?) and good traction in snow. This will be the second winter with them.

This experience is what I was expecting on the truck. See y’all....I do still like Cooper!

I bought a set for my 4Runner and really like how they handle the snow that we have received so far. I plan on putting them on my Tundra when the time comes but that will be a few years.
