I just bought 2017 Tundra, 5.7 liter. It does have a slight lift and 33" tires. I filled up and have gone 115 miles, my gas tank says its half full....is this normal???

Give it a tank or two until the ECU (engine and transmission) learn your driving habits. Should improve and you'll be getting 14mpg in no time.

What size tank you got? Doesn't sound like you have the 38 gallon.

Ok, will do, I knew I wouldn't be getting great mileage, but was a little worried it might be worse than expected,,,,it has the smaller tank, I believe its 26 gallon???

So many variables, but right on the window sticker it states 13 city / 15 highway. Your truck will improve some over the first few tanks, but it is what it is. I hover right around 13.2mpg (all city stop and go driving). Some people drive more conservative than others and that plays a big part too. What does the display say your average mpg are?

Also, there is a rather large reserve on our tanks, even when I run it down to the low fuel light (~20 miles range per the display), I can only get about 22 gallons in...that leaves about a 4 gallon reserve.

Oh, and welcome to the world of Tundra. Like @COMiamiFan said, pretty soon you won't care about it.

The mpg display hovers between 8-13...? Thanks for the help

@COMiamiFan it is a bad ass looking truck for sure!!!!!! It's my 4th toyota truck, started out with a 1982 pick up, then a 1998 Tacoma, a 2006 Tacoma, and now the 2017 Tundra, loved them all

My F350 6.2 dually single cab flat bed with two 3 ft tool boxes work truck averages 6mpg at work which is short runs and not over 30 mph.
It may strive to get 10 on the road at best.
    My buddies F250 4door 4wd 6.2 (all stock) average is 11mpg.
Apples vs oranges but you get the picture.

Your mpg's will improve slightly as your engine breaks in, but that's pretty much going to be your norm. Unfortunately, the 26 gallon tank has about 5-6 gallons left when fuel reads empty and it's supposedly needed to cool the fuel pump. So you really only have about 20 useable gallons. Any reason you didn't get the 38 gallon tank?

When I got my '14 I was getting about 11mpg driving around base. I now average about 14.5 driving around base during the week. Back in July we took a trip to San Diego I averaged about 17.2mpg during the entire trip. I did the manual calculation vs using the Tundra's gauge. As others have said soon as it breaks in you will see things get better, unless your heavy on the pedal then maybe not.

I really don't care, I love the sound of my exhaust so I'll be a little heavy on the pedal. Plus reading the spec sheet didn't expect much savings in MPG.

I've never seen over 16.5 and mine is bone stock. Usually it's 14-15mpg.

Lifted and heavy tires, it's expected. We aren't driving Prius's(thank God).

    Sent from my Turbo 2.

I thought I was buying the 38 gallon tank, sales guy caught that it wasn't after the fact....I don't suppose I could just buy and clamp on the bigger fuel tank?

No, that's not cost effective. A better way to go is add a Transferflow tank, as long as you're not in California. And it's 46 gallons I believe. But will still set you back over $1k

yeah main reason to go with 2016 or 2017 models is the bigger tank.

Wait a minute...you bought a Tundra, which is notorious for delivering the worst fuel mileage of any of the full-size 1/2 ton trucks and you are surprised that with 33's and lift that your gas mileage is worse than expected? Sorry, I know that sounds flippant, but C'mon man...

10-12 is probably as good as it will get...

That said, you bought a great truck...even if the gas mileage isn't what you want it to be, the resale and reliability make up for it's thirsty nature...

BTW: lifted Tundra's with larger tires and lifts are notorious for blowing out the steering rack...otherwise you have a very solid truck...

    Welcome from VA!
