I like the tone myself. The truck is not too quite inside any way, so nice to hear something other then road noise. And sound system isn't great.

To me, it is hardly noticeable. I actually like the sound. All in perspective. If you have had actually loud exhaust systems then the TRD will seem quiet. If your frame of reference is from vehicles with unmodified exhaust systems, you may find it loud... but then again.. it IS intended to be louder than a normal factory exhaust.
If Toyota felt comfortable including it standard with the TRD Pro, it isnt a loud system.

I agree with you about perspective. Everyone hears and feels sound differently.

I don’t think the TRD is loud at all. I’ve owned big block Chevelles with headers and 2 chamber Flowmasters - that was loud. I drive 15,000 miles a year - mostly highway (at varying speeds) and to me it was just an annoying resonance or pressure in the cab when the truck was in 6th gear and the rpms dropped too low.

Best mod I’ve done by far. I don’t think I’d ever have another Tundra without TRD Dual. There is no drone after you break it in about 500 miles. It really sounds killer.

What he said. It drones for the first 500 miles or so then has broke in and mellowed nicely. I only hear it when I turn it on and jump on it.

I’ve done 1000+ mile days with mine. Only time I’ve ever found it a little annoying is when you spend hours up and down mountain roads but anything gets annoying there.

still glad I have it. It’s awesome

I guess that I have never noticed drone in any exhaust, but that the helicopter resonance is an annoying effect that some dual pipe set ups generate - my GTO had it, and it was painful at certain speeds with the top down. I should have installed an H pipe, but never got around to it.

I like the helicopter sound at low rpm. Makes me feel like I'm driving an old muscle truck. I want to hear that V8 purring down the road!

When you install keep an eye on the level of pipes. There's a tendency for one side to be higher than the other. I have a fix for this in case you have this problem.

I’m considering Keith’s TRD replacement system because the combination of H pipe and resonators made the TRD stock quiet now. Nice on the highway but kind of boring.

The H pipe took care of the helicopter sound but replaced the highway resonance with a drone. The resonators killed the drone, and pretty much any sound those huge mufflers had.

Would be nice if Toyota implemented an active exhaust like the big 3 do. I've driven a few challengers and it's nice to be able to choose how loud I want it with the push of a button.

I HATE redneck exhausts and wouldn't tolerate one on my truck for even half a day much less all the time.

I have the TRD exhaust and love it. Tasteful is how I'd describe it.

It is insulting how much they want for the Trd exhaust. Hard to swallow. Way to many options out there to go with the TRD. Just my penny

I’ve had a tundra stock and my latest with the TRD duals. It’s the best choice. Once opened up it’s nice and throaty. Not fatiguing to drive all day in. I had read some complaints on droning but I haven’t experienced that in my crewmax.

Is it just for sound or does it provide more power, less back pressure, etc.
