    Nice write up Jason.
My cowl is my only problem area as well. It was faded when I got the truck and the only thing I have found that works (works more than a day or 2 anyway) is shine supply trim shield. Its great stuff.
I haven't tried the solutions finish yet but now that shine supply had their own trim ink dye, I would likely use theirs.

One thing I know that does not work at all, and actually made my cowl worse, was optimum tire coating. It just sealed in the fade, and it's been 4 months since I applied it and I can't get it off lol

Jason, your on a roll today, another product :spending:

Having used the Solution Finish, based on your previous recommendation. The stuff does stain anything.
I only get about a month out of my front cowl. It’s been super hot here, so that might be part of the problem.

What are you using on the wheel well areas?

If you can get it dyed black with the solutions finish, then apply shine supply trim shield, you will get many months of a good looking cowl. The trim shield is like a sealant or coating, it also does a good job bringing back that deep black, but I bet using it after the dye will work really really well.

How long does it last on what your applying it to and does it give off any run down? What I mean by that is like on my wife's 12' Tacoma the rear bumper trim is horrible and anything I use even if I buff it down with a microfiber just streaks onto the bumper below when it rains. I might look into trying the shine supply version, I like there stuff thanks to this forum. I have applied trim shield to the bumper trim and although its not a restorer it brings it back to color and lasts about a month, gives me a little streaking onto the bumper below the first time it rains after application.

I’ll be honest, I get that streaking with pretty much every trim product I use. I usually have to go back over the vehicle the next morning with Opt-Clean to wipe it off. It’s likely bad technique on my part, but I pretty much always have it happen.
The Solution Finish streaks less than the others though. I think that’s mainly because it’s not an oil type product like most are. I usually can get it to last 2-3 months before I have to do it again. I’ve had it need touching up after just a month before also. I think it varies on how much you use, weather, and how dried out the plastic was.

I always get that streaking after a rainfall within a few days of dressing my trim. It's most noticable on the bedsides and tailgate. I always go back after I apply and buff it well but it seems inevitable. I use some carpro ech20 to clean it up

After it rains, I hit the trim and bumpers with a microfiber towel. Always have some on the truck. Just wipe it down and it eliminates those pesky streaks.

One week later. Solution Finish side still looks good, Blackwow is back to grey. I have no idea why this stuff is so popular.

Wow that's a huge difference in just one week, and it has not even been sunny there where you live. Some of the products amaze me with their popularity, even when they suck.
I just checked my cowl that I did half of over a month ago with trim shield, it's pretty faded but not as bad as the side I used waxaddict on. I tried taking pics but they didn't come out to where you can see a difference.

Well i’ve Been leery of Amazon reviews of late. There was a story in the news in our area about their review system. Seems that people were paid for reviews, offered free items. So now I always check negative reviews and current reviews.

One time a few years ago I was offered a refund on something I bought if I sent in a glowing review. Only happened one time, but I'm betting that some people do this all the time. Maybe even leave a comment with their payment asking for a freebie for a positive review

It’s not an Amazon thing, it’s the sellers. If you get a free item in exchange for a review, you’re SUPPOSED to say so in your review. Obviously it doesn’t happen, but that’s the policy.

There’s a actually a site I’ve seen before that can filter through bogus Amazon reviews somehow. I’ll have t find it again.

As for the Blackwow, the reviews and mentions I’ve seen weren’t from Amazon, but detailing forums and groups.

    You guys are killing me.
I just ordered a 1oz Solution Finish Black from Amazon, (figured that will last me long enough) and Shine Supply just got a $70+ order.
Thanks for the 10% off code!

Sorry your correct should have said the sellers..

I think if it wasn’t from the feedback we get from our forums members, I wouldn’t buy certain products. Actually reading first hand experience from actual forum members goes a long way in making my decision.

Plus we all like handing this over....lol:spending:

A quick follow up. The Black Wow didn’t last at all. The Solution Finish on the driver’s side is still there.

I’ve been liking the look the of the Shine Supply products I got.
I haven’t used the Solution Finish yet on my truck, I think the Trim Shield will do the job. The SF black ink is going to the wife’s XTerra...it looks like crap.

What did you get, trim shield? Or something else too? They make some pretty good stuff, so I'm always curious when someone tries something new from them
