Taking my 2017 Tundra into dealership this morning to have the tech look at why both my roof moldings are now missing.. Would this be a defective clip that holds the molding to the roof?

I called Toyota customer Service and they said I had to take it in for a tech to look at.

    27,000 miles.. any help here?

    Thanks,
    John

That sounds odd. Whereabouts are you located?

You only noticed the moldings being gone recently? How long have you had the truck?

One of mine came off on my previous Tundra. Found it in the bed of the truck. I could tell the clips were broken. Toyota replaces it under warranty.

Purchased truck in June,2019 from Dealership, has 27952 on it now. Hoping warranty will cover both pieces. I have one of the molding clips still attached to the clip on the roof. I think it is defective part due to the adhesive is missing on the molding clip ?!!!

Yep, washed my 2018 today and both are missing with only 7,020 miles on the clock, and yes, I have washed it several times by hand previously and both were in place.
I'd say Toyota has an issue with these clips staying in place.

I agree. The design is not good IMO.

TSB000115 replaces driver and passenger side drip molding on cab. I had this done on my 2015.

    Welcome from NY.

Do you use the car wash a lot? I've heard that's how they get loose and eventually come off.
