That does suck. Lucas, royal purple and Red line have always been my secondary go to besides OEM. I’ve pretty much been a M1 guy for over 20 years. But when I’m feeling like I want to be putting top of the line, I tend to go with Lucas or royal purple as well as red line. If Amsoil was readily available without ordering I would go that way. The fact that I don’t see it on the shelves makes me not want to use it.

So in my mind the truck drove smoother today on my way to work since the new rear diff fluid change.

Also in ordered 2 liters of Ravenol 75W transfer case oil from Amazon for the T case. It was about $35 for the fluid compared to $25 for M1 75w90 that some people are using against what is recommended. To me $10 is more than worth it for piece of mind and doing it right. I'll change the T case one day this week then the front diff next weekend. Thanks @15whtrd for all the great info.

I live far from my closest dealership but have over 35000 miles on my tundra so need to have the transfer and differential fluids changed. If I have that done at an independent repair facility with that void my warrantee? I can not find anything in the Manuel one way or the other

Amsoil is definitely great stuff, been using it for about 4 years on all my vehicles. I had used Royal purple before, but their formulation changed about 6 years ago and the quality of the additives went down.

I was also a redline guy for while, but after seeing that Amsoil offers better protection and has a better cleaner package, it's been my go to oil for engine and transmission/differential.

Based on the graphs, amsoil is pretty good, correct?

No it won't void your warranty as long as they use the correct fluids.

It seems 75w90 is acceptable for differentials, dealers use this weight.
Dealers also use 75w90 in the transfer case which is not even close in weight to the recommended 75w. If you go to a shop to get it changed, i recommend buying 2 liters of Ravenol 75w from Amazon and tell them to use that in the T case.

Just a PSA that particular oil is great but it will cause premature wear on the inside of a manual transmission. It is spec'd as GL5 which is what most Toyota transmissions call for however, the limited slip additives in it are known to eat up brass and copper.
My 99 Tacoma's W59 had the 3rd and 5th gear syncro's go out at 190k. Now I use Stalube 85W90 non syn. It's cheap stuff but does great in the W59.

Schaeffer’s 75w-90 in my diffs and t case....but mine is an 08 and specs that in all 3. Truck is almost entirely Schaeffer’s except for the transmission. Diffs, PS, oil, driveline grease are all Schaeffer’s

Just a thought, but that amsoil gear oil study was done over 12 years ago and all of those gear oils have been reformulated many times since then, I wouldn't put too much faith in it. I've used the Mobil 1 and Delvac 1 75W90 with good results in the diffs. Didn't like the way the ravenol 75W worked in the Tcase so used the Toyota OEM 75w there. In other trucks I've used the current production Lucas gear oils with excellent results as they are now very low friction, so will try them next in the Toyota.

For clarification, I use the M1 75w90 for my diffs. After reading up, I have ordered and will be using 75w for the tcase

This is the first I’ve heard of someone not liking the Ravenol, what difference were you noticing?

I've been using Mobil 1 synthetic in all my cars for the past several years. Jeep, Land Cruiser, Tundra, Tacoma. All no problems. However, it also has to do with changing it regularly. I think that's as important as the type of oil you use. You could use the best oil on the planet. If you let your truck go 100K between changes, then it won't matter.
