Backflip MX4 questions

I scored a Backflip MX4 that looks like new for $400 on Craigslist recently from the same gen & configuration as my truck. It fits and I dig it, but have 2 questions.

First, is it normal to have a bit of side to side play? If the cover is shut, it stays put and everyone is happy. When I open and close it, it's possible to get the cover on heavily to one side or another. If I close it carefully, I can center it and it's fine.

Secondly, I had to buy the kit to drop the deck railing. The first and last brackets don't leave any room for the hardware without the nut hitting the bed. I don't want to chew through the Line-X. What have you guys/gals done to remedy this?

Yes it moves side to side a bit when closing multiple panels, happened to my tacoma now same with tundra otherwise it’s really a tight fit. That’s my experience.

Secondly never had to use drop brackets so not sure how that configuration works. Can you shorten the bolts? Pics would help!

 

I have the same cover. Definitely some play in it, though I open it rarely. Can’t speak to the deck rail issue as I don’t have them.
