By the time my 3yr warranty passes, I will only have about 20k on the truck vs the 36k expected. My exposure to failure would only be about half of the expected.

Also, if the dealership is setup right, the income from the service department covers all the dealerships expenses so money made selling cars is pure profit. That says something about the money made by the dealership for uncovered repairs. (I worked in commercial lending for a major bank for many years including new car dealerships, nationwide franchises, etc. So I've seen many financials, tax returns , P and L's etc.)

I realize that it is a crap shoot, but for less than $20/month, the extra 7 years of coverage is peace of mind. And the Platinum has 0 deductible and coverage is on almost all non wear items, non cosmetic components including electronics. A replacement computer for my Nissan was over $3000. One major repair and I'm covered for the cost of the warranty. If not, I won't have to worry about any mystery ailments and symptoms that might come up.

Is it a Toyota EW or is Horizon a 3rd party insurer?

Funny that I am right now close to Santa Rosa for a vacation. But I live further inland north of Sacramento.
