just curious what others do to their trucks maintenance wise before deer season opens.

Did my oil change and rear diff since it’ll be in 2wd 95% of the time. Assuming I go every weekend for AO and general (9 weekends), I’ll do engine oil when season ends.

Does your drive line have grease points?

Make sure you have a good battery. It would put a damper on your hunt to get stuck in the mountains because your truck won’t start.

Check to make sure your spare is inflated and that you can get it to drop. It doesn't hurt to be familiar with the procedure for changing it. I'm also going to get a spare serpentine belt.

My battery is three years old i'm going to replace it before we head to Montana in November. What you guys recommend? OEM or someone else? Interstate's have worked well for me in the past.

Fluid film or something similar the undercarriage if you're in snow country.

My OEM shit out after only 30k miles so I would recommend something different. A lot of guys on here have had good luck with the AGM batteries. Northstar, odyssey etc. Toyota replaced mine with a new OEM battery under warranty for free or else that’s the route I would have gone.

Thanks. I came from an old, built Land Cruiser that I built for overlanding, hunting and camping. I'm use to the tire drop procedure, and it's holding air. I also have a compressor. I even carry my Dewalt 1/2" impact on trips...makes changing a tire waaaay easier. I even carry my lug nut socket set and torque wrench to ensure lug nuts are back on at the right torque setting. I agree with the AGM battery. That's what was in my LC and I also carry a couple battery jumpers for the battery. The second is used by my teenagers for the cell phones (smh)...I did my oil change and rear diff before hunting season. I won't be using 4wd much, so I plan to change the center and front after archery and before rifle season. I'll be ditching my old Duratracs after deer season, and probably getting a new set, or new Ridge Grapplers. Friends have had good luck with them as far as road performance and durability.

I really need to grease the DS'...but after two straight weekends of AO hunting, i'm freaking beat. damn deer....almost had one on Saturday too. rookie mistake. but me and the truck will be back up on in the mountains this weekend...
