Need advice on double cab 'real-world' size

Wanted to ask about the real world size of a first gen tundra with the double cab? I have been looking around at trucks here lately and I really like the 05-06 tundras. They seem to hold up really well and have the options I would like to have in a truck, along with the price. So my question is, how well do car seats fit in the rear seat of the double cab? I have a two year old and a 12 week old. So we have two seats, one convertible seat and the other is the infant seat.

We have a newer ford explorer as our family car but I would still like to have a truck and be able to haul the kiddos when the wife is working or whatever.

Thanks in advance for any insight!

There are is no LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) system to clip in car seats without the seat belts, so you must use the seat belts only method. I have two grandkids and no problem with their car seats. Plenty of room!

The LATCH system is there. You have to pull up a Velcro strip at the seat bottom. It is only on the center and driver's side seat though.

Car seats fit great in the back of my 2006 DC....and mine has the LATCH system for the seat behind the driver seat and for the middle seat but not for the one behind the passenger seat.

Mine is the same way. Driver and center LATCH hookups. There's lots of room, for both rear and front-facing car seats...especially in the center position.

Festerw is correct— I just never dug into my seats enough to find them. I learned something new here myself! Thanks.

Congrats on the new baby, I think it’s an awesome amount of room but I’m also only rocking one rear facing seat at the moment, where are you thinking of putting each seat now that there’s 2? I’ll try to remember to take a picture of the rear facing seat in the truck tomorrow morning

I have a 6 week old and love the room. More than my wife’s GX460. I cannot speak to having two seats but having the other be a forward facing I would say no problem!

Traded in my 18 DC Tacoma for a 06 DC Tundra and there is way more space. Had a rear facing carseat behind my passenger seat in the Taco and anybody 6ft+ could not fit in the pass seat. My Tundra only has the Latch system behind driver & center seat which I thought would be an issue but I fit perfectly fine with the rear facing carseat in the middle or behind me. Planning on keeping this 06 and having my son drive it in 15 years!

Thank you very much everybody! The insight is very helpful and I really appreciate it. We have a BMW X5 right now as my work vehicle/dad hauler. But as soon as we get rid of it we will definitely be looking for a tundra!
