what are the benefits between ceramic and regular tint? The tint shop quoted me 340 for rear, and 4 side windows at 20%. Is that a fair price? Due to the crazy heat were having in so cal. I'm just looking for something that would help keep the cab cool.

I have regular in my '02, and Ceramic in my '07. The Ceramic is cooler, and easier to see out of at night.

I got my tint back in May of this year. Big difference in heat. I have regular tint on my BMW and I can fee the heat from the sun while driving. In my Tundra, barely notice. the price quote you got is reasonable about $20 dollars cheaper than mine and Im in DFW. Do it, you will like it, but I dont think you can do the fronts in Cali at 20% or any at all unless the laws changed. I was pulled over and given a Fix it ticket. However, I do see many with tint and CHP doesnt just pull you over unless you are breaking the law from my experience. I was speeding 100+ on 405 SB but the cop was cool and said I was at 82 so I paid the ticket and removed the tint. Once I registered my BMW outside of CA, I put the tint back on. LOL

You get what you pay for. Ceramic tint is well worth the extra coin.

I have seen a noticeable difference in the ceramic, not so much just sitting in the parking lot but when driving it’s great.

Need to add, do the windshield. I used something called air80, barely even noticeable that the whole things is tinted.

Ceramic is worth it. The amount heat rejection is far greater than other options. This basically translate into less heat transferred to the interior of your vehicle.

    Short informative video

Do the fronts at a lighter tint, you probably won't get pulled over.

I am in the south east and I have ceramic all around including the windshield. It is absolutely worth it. As others have said, at night it is easier to see out of, and you can feel the heat difference between a car with regular tint and ceramic very easily.

I wonder if there is a clear ceramic tint for us Californias. We are not allowed to tint windshield or front door windows.

Ask for a 60% or 70% shade, it is not noticeable.

I went the cheap route and bought a roll of 50% ceramic tint on eBay for around $80 and did the windows myself. Not the prettiest job in the world but I don't care, I got my windows tinted. It was a learning experience and definitely is harder than it looks. Tried doing the rear sliding window and it was a failure. Was thinking about doing the windshield too but after the rear window failure, I decided against doing it lol

I would go to a professional. Always have gone to a proper place for windows tint.
DIY seems to be something that needs to be practiced.

After my experience, yes, I would not do it again and just go to a shop to get it done. But it was a fun learning experience and I am not going to lose sleep over the mistakes I made and I won't be taking it off and going to a shop.

I would review your State laws before going the windshield route. Here in TX you need a prescription to have your front windshield tinted. I know I know, some here may have already done it but if you get that one Officer that just isnt having a good day then you may get a fix it. I know some of you claim that they can't tell but I could, even it you got 90% you can see how the light reflects off of it giving it a something aint right here look. You can get away from it when its shaded or the closer to evening but I see it. Not trying to be a Debbie Downer but just make or willing to take the risk for a ticket. I was quoted another $250 for front windshield.

What is the preferred heat / glare rejecting ceramic tint for windshields?
I don't want anything that is dark.

I had a subaru I owned new for 8 years. I had the windshield tinted with a high transparency film and it never got the attention of the cops. Even when I got pulled over, they said nothing.

I just had my CrewMax done. Had the fronts tinted to match the backs and had 50% put on the backs and rear glass. $320.

Driving with sun coming through my door glass I feel nothing. Turn and have sun through windshield and it’s immediately noticeable.

I don’t know the benefit of sitting in parking lot and how much heat rejection it is. While windshield is still letting it in, so cab is still hot.

I put windshield reflective blinders on when in the sun, it helps alot. I compared both the BMW(regular) and the Tundra(ceramic), Tundra a few degrees cooler and bearable. Maybe one day I'll buy those thermal laser readers and see the difference on a hot sunny day and post the findings. Unless a member here is willing to do so if he has one of those gadgets.

Oh windshield car shade, yes I just ordered something similar actually. But for driving I want to do a front windows and windshield in ceramic see through tint. Like 90%

Yea, I have one too and use it when I park my car in the sun. It keeps the car temp a lot lower than without it but when I'm driving south, that sun shining in from the windshield to my arms is hot AF
