Got the pioneer in the dash, the steering wheel controls work, the touch screen works, it's paired with my phone but the speakers don't seem to work.

Now with this premium audio harness there's no wires to wire into the pioneer speaker wires. However there are av cables. I followed the directions and plugged each color coded cable from the harness into the pioneers red and white av cables but I have no sound.
I'm wondering if maybe I should have plugged em into the other set of av plugs on the back of the unit (multicolored) instead of the dangling red and white ones.

Another possible area I know I may need to trouble should is the amp ground from the premium audio harness adapter. I have it tied into the other chassis ground for the radio because there was no dedicated mating wire for it.

    Any ideas? :help:

The multicolored plugs on the back are probably composite av jacks which don't work with the red and white RCA inputs from the speakers. Sounds like you have it hooked up right. Is there a setting in the Pioneer to turn the speakers on and off?

Not that I'm aware of. I played with the volume and mute and still no sound. I'm convinced it's some thing to do with the purple and grey speaker.wires coming from the head.unit.witu no mate on the toyota harness adapter. I.just don't know what I would even do with them

According to the manual grey is front right speaker. Violet is for rear right speaker.

If you pull it back out, snap some pics of the head unit harness and Toyota harness adapter. Sounds like the adapter may not be compatible with the head unit if there are extra wires on the head unit without an adapter mate. I actually installed this Pioneer model in my Tundra and I remember having to cut and splice the Toyota adapter to the head unit harness. They weren't compatible, wasn't a plug and play. It was a pain in the ass and I ended up getting rid of the head unit because it didn't sound good once it was connected. Went back to my original Kenwood, which meant I had to resplice the original harness.

You have an amp powering your speakers?

It might help to clarify some things here.

You mention premium auto harness... is this a brand? Or are you calling it premium auto harness becasue are you running the Premium factory JBL system?

Are they A/V cables, or low level output RCA cables?

Are you replacing the factory amp under the front passenger seat? Replacing factory speakers?

I replaced the speakers 2 months ago.

With the help of our fine members here, we found the amp under the pass rear seat, not in the dash.

Maybe they're rca? Component cables? what ever you call em.

I meant premium audio which would be JBL. I assumed that much because I have a limited with the 6 disc changer and tweeters. But at this time I'm not entirely sure since the CD changer doesn't actually say JBL.

It seems I need this harness and i have ordered it from crutchfield

I installed my camera and now my sound doesn't work and my camera doesn't turn on is reverse or manually. This has been the install from hell. I'm so frustrated I'm almost ready to pay some one to fix it

Tomorrow I'll call Crutchfield at 10am and take it all apart for the last time to check all the connections. If i can just get the sound working again that would be great. I can pay someone to do the camera if necessary.

The camera is a Pioneer ND-BC8

Ok after some research, I've realized I have the backup camera rca cable plugged into the wrong video port. I did yellow instead of brown.

I'm pretty damn sure I've tapped into the right reverse wire, so I'll be double checking that connection, in case I didn't make a good enough splice. If that doesn't work, I'll run a wire all the way to the reverse light.

But what's disturbing me the most is that fact that I've lost sound after installing the camera. And just after getting sound this morning with the amp bypass.

Does anyone know if I can unplug the other harness from the amp and.just remove it?

Ok swapped the RCA and we have image. Still doesn't come on with reverse and still no sound.

Look, as a former car audio installer, this is a pretty basic installation that you are having issues with, including following directions like plugging the backup camera into brown RCA (found on page 70 or 2 pages below the one you took a screen shot of)

I would recommend using a different harness and bypassing your factory amp. A simple Google search will provide you with that info.

Tread lightly as to which wire you tap into for your reverse signal and parking brake. There's a reason I was MECP certified and always double checked wires with a multimeter to make sure it was the right wire before I tapped into it. I've seen people blow up airbags by not testing connections first.

If that fails, time to pay a shop.

Haha pretty basic he says. I've done several installs and this one has been quite unique. Mostly been issues with 2 harnesses being the wrong ones. I installed the bypass yesterday and got sound. I lost sound once I installed the camera. Makes no sense. I checked all the connections this morning and everything should be fine. So Monday it's going to a shop.

Now the camera is stuck on the screen. I keep hitting the home screen button and nothing. Wtaf.
