Ahh, see I want to fit a 6x9 kicker speaker, I would like to not go down to 6.5 inch speakers. The guy above said he put an actual 6x9 into the door not a 6.5 with adapter, I was just wondering how he got it to fit.

I would also recommend checking with these guys

I didn't see those adapters on their site but if they do sell them and they just didn't list them, I would buy from them.

Their reputation is solid and they have a ton of happy customers here on these forums.

I got the adapters like winky said, the magnet sits on the window bar, but that does affect the window nor the speaker. With the adapter I got it only fit in one way only. The front center panel clip will not lock in place however, this does not cause rattling. I got 6.5" in the back and they don't measure up to the 6x9 in the front.

Well I got the 6x9 brackets from Amazon and tried to install the Kicker 6x9's. You can cut into the door panel to make it fit flush but before doing that t I did a test run and the kicker 6x9 speakers sound like crap with the stock amp/hu setup. I will probably just replace all the dash speakers and throw the alpine amp mod under the passenger seat to see how far that takes me.

I wonder if the factory amp only sends bass to the front door speakers. I was using after market hu and amp, straight wire all speakers. The 6x9 require a lot of power. My amp is 75x4 rms and that's still not enough to get them really going.

What are all you guys doing about the factory harness in the dash speakers when upgrading? I'm debating putting tweeters in place of the factory dash speakers, but am wondering how to deal with that harness. Are you just getting rid of the harness and wiring everything in-line (possibly with bass blockers/in-line crossovers), or are you somehow keeping the factory harness?

The wires are just soldered to the dash speakers, there is a factory inline bass blocker. I straight wired all my speakers, front doors and dash are very easy, rear are more challenging. I used the kicker 3.5" 2way with a 400hz bass blocker and I get all the highs. Factory dash speakers are 1way with a bass blocker.

Dumb question. But coming from the Tacoma the tweeters were the same fit and style that were in an Sti. Which are kicker or something like that. So it was an easy upgrade. Anyone know if the tundra uses the same tweeter? This only worked for non jbl though so I’m assuming it way be the same in the tundra.
