On a 2014 tundra has anybody removed the fine screen inside the master cylinder reservoir? It appears as though it will not pull out by hand or by gently pulling on it with needle nose pliers. Has anybody remove the screen from the master cylinder? Better to ask and find out then not to ask and break it.

Interested. Thought the same thing myself. I like to use a turkey baster to suck out the fluid before I bleed the brakes. Just figured I would have to deal with it when the time came.

I had to remove the screen from the MC on my camry and in order for it to come out it had to be turned counter clockwise some then it lifted straight out.

Good to know! I was fiddling with it one day but didn’t want to snap it. Before I ever do a brake bleed I like to put some fresh stuff in the master cylinder so I don’t have to bleed that crap all the way through the system.

Same. I played with that thing for 15 minutes. Spinning the mesh filter around and around. I cant find any way of removing it. Granted I didn't use blunt force, but I tried lightly prying with a screwdriver, a needle nose pliers, and just trying to finesse it out by hand. I'm not a pro by any means, but I've been working on cars for 15 years. This has me stumped! Lol. Freaking mesh screen.

Same reason I was taking the screen out of the Camry’s MC. ;)

It is not that difficult. I did it using these pick n hooks.[IMG]You have to pry from the outer side of the filter and push in a bit toward the center, not down, so that it clears the groove where it sits under then pull up slowly. Just be careful not to damage the mesh with the pick.

I just did what Juan suggested. I used 2 pick tools from opposite sides (after wedging in the tip of the tools between the outside rim of the screen cap and the reservoir) and gently pushed towards the middle and it popped out pretty easy. When you put it back in, keep pressing down until you hear some audible clicks.
FYI, my dealership quoted $165 for the break fluid flush.
