Hello guys & gals, thanks for the add.

I have been doing the Google for a recent issue. My Toy has 55,000 miles. I have been noticing (about a week now) coming off of a full stop that I am having some slipping issues in 1st gear. It is not happening all of the time, usually after I have been driving around for a while and off & on. I come off of a stop in D and accelerate. The truck doesn't move much, but if I push down on the pedal it will go, but 'jump' into gear. I have been having the truck serviced at my local dealership, but no issues have ever been reported.

    Does anyone have any insight?

    Thank you!

Have you had the fluid flushed/ or just drained and replaced?

I have not completed this service. It just started and has had me wondering. I will be probably getting it back into the shop this week for a check. I was just there this past week for new brakes. I appreciate the advice.

Take it in before you do anything as you still have a warranty on it. If you start messing with it and then need to take it in, they may say you caused it. Get what you can from the dealer

    Follow Up!

So, I took the Grey Goose in for the issue to be evaluated. Spent 2 hours and the tech's found nothing. Drove it around and was not able to duplicate the issue being reported. At the end, they asked me to drive it and if it happens to pop in so they can get a tech to ride with me for evaluation.

Drove it at work today and not only was I getting the 1st to 2nd failure to engage properly, I started to experience a 5th to 6th gear failure as well at about 2,000 rpms. The initial gear issue (1st to 2nd) was getting worst. By that I mean, it was getting rougher when engaging. The second issue was a slight issue. I happened to be by the dealership this afternoon. Drove in and told the service advisor who called the service manager to the counter. The SM and I popped into the truck and drove off. Right out of the dealership parking lot, we experiencing the initial issue. As we drove on the highway, we also experienced the second issue. I drove for about 5 miles and turned around. I let the SM to drive it back to the lot. He experienced the same issues.

We got back to the lot and told the service advisor to initiate a work order and order a new (rebuilt) transmission. They gave me a free rental and told me that my truck would be ready by Friday this week. I still haven't decided if I am happy about this or not. The SM told me that in all of his years with Toyota, he has never had a tranny go out on truck with as few miles as I have. Certainly not a norm.

Anyways, I appreciate the advice given to me on this forum. Thanks.

    FOLLOW UP!

So, I went down for surgery the day after I dropped it off for the tranny replacement. Convenient huh. Anyways, I have been home recovering and my better half had to pick up the Grey Goose from the dealership. I started driving the goose early this week for doctor's appointment. Prior to the replacement, my full fuel tank showed a max mileage of 363 miles until empty.

Since the replacement, my full fuel tank is showing 418 miles until empty sitting at just over 14 miles per gallon. Huh? Not sure what happen? Software update? Who knows, but I will take it.

    Thanks for listening!

They have to disconnect the battery to do tranny change, they just reset the computer that’s why it show you more miles per tank, it will go back to normal in a few weeks.
