Anyone use one or the other?

Please save your "vaping is bad" and other bs comments to yourself.

I use a Juul and have for almost a year now.
I used to smoke 1/2 to 3/4 a pack of cigarettes every day.
That said, after hitting the gas station a couple times to get Juul Pods I noticed ads for the Alto device being only 99 cents. Tough to beat that considering a Juul device used to be ~$35 and has now settled down to about $25 or so. I had to buy a new one a couple months ago and a device with a 4 pack of pods was $55.

Juul pods are .7ML and a 4 pack of pods is around $16.
Vuse pods are 1.8ML and I believe they were $15 maybe $16.
That being said I think the Vuse might turn out to be a better value.

So far I have only really used the Alto as a backup when my Juul is charging. I bought a 2 pack of the "Rich Tobacco" flavor which tastes pretty good. I use the "Virginia Tobacco" flavor in my Juul. I think either flavor is about as close of a taste to a Cowboy Killer that either company can get. The vapor of the Vuse is much more potent than a Juul. My first time using it I was outside and my daughter said "yucky." So if you vape inside that is one thing to consider.
I actually like the flavor of the Vuse pods better than the Juul pods. Aside from that, the draw of the Vuse is much better and WAY more consistent than that of a Juul.

I did notice a commercial for the Vuse recently and it had a copyright at the bottom in fine print that said "RJRVC." Me being curious I found that it stands for RJ Reynolds Vapor Company. Looks like big tobacco is trying to edge their way in on the vapor market. Considering the recent push to move their devices, I can only imagine that they are trying to take back some of the market from Juul.

I think I may introduce the Vuse to my mom considering the taste is just that much better. She has been smoking since she was 13 (1973). :eek2:

Well I just had a horrible experience with my Juul.

I took a drag and set it down. Maybe 30 seconds later I went to take another drag and all I tasted was a very bad burnt taste.
Most vapes have a paper element inside them that gets heated up to turn the liquid into vapor.
I think after the first drag it kept burning but with no airflow through it it was just burning the paper element.
That was the last Juul pod I have on hand.

I think for now I will use the Vuse exclusively and finish the 2 pods I have before buying any more pods for either device. That way I can give the vuse a good workout to decide if I should really continue using it.

I was seriously contemplating trying the juul out. I have tried those big Vape devices before but I usually hit it so much that it ended up giving me acid reflux and a funky cough. Similar to having pneumonia or bronchitis. So the juul seems like a nice alternative to a big Vape device in my pocket. I’ve always fell back on cigarettes. At the moment it will be two weeks since I’ve had a cigarette Tuesday. I’m still jonesing bad. But I’m afraid if I go get another Vape alternative to smoking that I will just fall back on cigarettes. So far this is the longest I’ve gone without a cigarette in probably 23 years.

But I will definitely keep that Vuse in mind if I’m feeling like taking a hit off something.

    I've been a non-smoker for 8 years now. I vape and I'm old.
Juul and vuse are owned by big tobacco.
Juul uses a salt base extraction nicotine (some good points some bad) All pods to my knowledge, uses cotton wicks not paper. If they do use paper it is a very cheap method of wicking.
If you are trying to save money (juul can be very expensive, approx $5.71 per ml. Vuse come out to $4.12 per ml) get an open pod system like the Zero, Kanger Gemm or similar.
There are so many open pod (closed systems are those that are pre-filled) that you can buy the empty pods and get a good salt nic juice and fill the pods yourself.
$20.00 or a little less, for a 30ml bottle. $0.67 per ml. and with buch better quality than Juul or Vuse.
If you want or need to know more, just let me know.

What got expensive for me was needing to replace the atomizer’s unless you wrap your own, which I’m not into. Then buying the juice. I also had extra batteries and a big charger so that I would never have to wait for the stupid thing to charge. Then I made sure to have the capability of recharging on the go. Then carrying that big thing in your pocket. It was almost the size of a small pistol.

    Nothing wrong with nicotine ecigs.
This situation is/was caused by Underground THC black market using vitamin E base components to thicken up the THC for vaping.
    Not the nicotine eliquids.

    from the article.

he federal investigation into the link between vaping and severe lung illnesses is ongoing and has not identified a cause, but all reported cases have indicated the use of e-cigarette products and some patients have reported using e-cigarettes containing cannabinoid products, such as THC.
There are also separate investigations being conducted in separate states.
New York health officials said last week that extremely high levels of the chemical vitamin E acetate were found in nearly all cannabis-containing vaping products that were analyzed as part of the investigation. At least one vape product containing this chemical has been linked to each person who fell ill and submitted a product for testing in the state.

I had a Smok AL85 which was the first thing I used to get away from cigarettes. I got tired of visiting the vape shop 2-3 times a week, maintaining the device, replacing the atomizers, refilling the tank, watching the battery, carrying extra batteries, making sure I had a charger with me, etc etc..
Those were the reasons I started using a Juul. I don’t have to fill anything. I didn’t have to replace parts. I didn’t have to worry about forgetting juice. I just needed to charge it every night and kept an extra charger and pods in the truck. It was just a ton more simple and maintenance free.

Yeah, I meant to say cotton. It’s been a long time since I’ve messed with a mod.

    Thanks for the info.
I use Juul because it’s maintenance free and easy.
I don’t want my previous post to make it sound like I have given up on the Juul. I simply had an issue I wasn’t expecting and I’m out of Juul Pods so I want to give the Alto a fair shot.

    and more

Vitamin E acetate, which is commonly available as a nutritional supplement, is not an approved additive for New York State Medical Marijuana Program-authorized vape products and was not seen in the nicotine-based products that were tested, according to the department.

    LOL
    Nothing wrong with being cautious.
I've been doing this for 8 years and I'm still alive, (I think)
There has been zero issues in the vaping industry for over 10 years, (other than people not understanding battery safety and ohms law) then come THC vape and problems.

It is not the nicotine industry causing this. It is in fact the THC industry. 2 different industries.
What you are pointing out is like saying drinking cola will get you drunk and wreck your car.

Actually, with all due respect to you, this is not true.
The nicotine vape industry is very well self regulated and soon to be FDA regulated, and to date, there have been no issues with nicotine vape.
The nicotine vape industry do not add and do not want additives in the liquid.
Please do not confuse the 2 industries with speculation.

    Really?
    OK
all nicotine Eliquids contain VG, PG, Flavor and nicotine.
Without flavor you just have flavorless VG, flavorless PG and flavorless nicotine liquid.
what other additives do you think they have?

I smoke about 2-3 packs a week, down from a pack a day.

I bought a Juul a few months back and it was a complete waste of money. I tried to use it maybe 5 times. The Juul is harsher than my camel menthols by far. I tried menthol cartridges and mango. Both sucked ass. Everytime I take a
drag on the juul, I cough.

I don't see how these things are supposed to help is quit cigs.

I have a pretty bad headache that I can’t really explain. I’m honestly thinking it’s from the Vuse. My wife is currently picking up some Juul Pods for me.

It takes some getting used to for sure.
I used to cough my ass off but not anymore.

Vape bro here. I've reduce vaping quite a bit though as it never leaves my house anymore. Smoked for 10 years. YES, vaping is different and YES you will cough in the beginning. Did you cough when you started smoking? Yes, you did.

To OP. For me, I switched to save money. The value just isn't there with gas station devices. They are too expensive and too disposable. Convenience is there though and that's important. Not needing to find a vape shop while your traveling is a great convenience. With that said, I don't have any experience with gas station devices. I vape with sub-ohm tanks and variable power mods. I will echo the open pod advice. They are much better devices, still small and much more cost effective. You will have to fill pods though. That procedure can be messy.

To the naysayers, vaping has less short term effects than traditional combustible tobacco. My partner is a PHd student and her lab does A LOT of smoking secession research (it's a health behavior research lab). Without going into too much detail, the body releases little to no residual chemicals often found after smoking a traditional cigarette (they primarily look at carbon monoxide). Long term studies are still in process, but there have been other studies in Europe by large, upper echelon educational institutions that have concluded the same. I can provide citations if people would like.

With that said, the body and lungs were never designed to intake and process smoke or vapor. Clean air is still the only healthy thing. The headaches you are getting probably come from the juice formulation. Propylene Glycol (PG) has been known to cause headaches. I used to go clubbing a lot and had friends that would get minor headaches after and the next morning. After taking some data, we narrowed it down to smoke/fog machines. Guess what's in the fluid... Propylene Glycol. My partner is also an ex-smoker/current vaper. Like you, she also got headaches with standard formula e-liquids (70% PG / 30% VG). She vapes a 60/40 blend and no longer gets headaches.

Great response. Thanks for the info.
Just so everyone knows I didn’t switch from smoking to vaping for cost savings though, there are ways of vaping that’s cheaper than cigarettes. I only compared costs of these two devices because they meet my needs of being easy to use and low maintenance.

The only people getting fucked up by legal E-nic stuff are business owners in Massachusetts. all are banned here and businesses that sell vape supplies can no longer provide for their families. I've been vaping since I was 16 after I noticed how much cigarettes I was starting to smoke(started at a summer job landscaping and having nothing better to do on the way to jobsites). not a single health issue in the 4 years I've been doing it. the only reason that E-nic devices came under fire was because the people who were in the hospitals for it didn't want a felony for buying and consuming illegal thc concentrates, so the easiest thing for them to say was "vaping".

It’s not just bad...it’s a damn epidemic and needs to be squashed. This is America so we are allowed to kill ourselves as we see fit. I say from a perspective of a parent of twin 20 year olds that figured it out on their own...and they quit the shit. To each it’s own.

I was using the IPHA Swis for awhile along with FIT pods. The Swis is a pretty slick device.

I'm currently using a Vaporesso Aurora Play. salt nic device with push to fill pods that usually last for about 20 ml of juice. looks and sounds like a zippo

I understand, but it's either smoking cigarettes which I definitely noticed having an effect on my breathing or this which doesn't affect my breathing and I've been lowering the nicotine content a lot. i'm starting to use it less and I firmly believe this is the best way to get rid of addiction.

I absolutely loved a drag off a Marlboro Medium on a cold winter day!!! So Fing satisfying!! Interesting read. :D A guy at work is always vaping. It looks tempting :D

I smoked a pack a day for almost 13 years.....
It’s now been 11 years, 4 months, and 29 days since my last drag - cold turkey. My daughter was born later that night. :D
