Just got a DECKED system for my Crewmax. Want to get a mattress setup for it. Wondering if any other members already figured out and tested some good options.

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Zero One. Called DECKED but they have no input on mattress/sleep setups as of now. just told me to google and keep asking on the forum. They were very good people though.

Wouldn't you just put a mattress on top of the drawers??? Not much to it.

@LittleTRD, Do you have a topper/ shell on the bed or are you open truck bed in the back? I have the @DECKEDUSA two drawer for a crewmax also, but will have a Leitner Designs rack in the back which will prevent me from getting a topper/shell (whatever people call it now). Like @Stig says, you can just get a custom sized memory foam mattress made online professionally to your exact size you want. Foam thickness, fabric color or design, etc. If you are open top and want to run just a mattress or a pad, look at inflatable camping sleeping pads that air down and will fit in one of your drawers when not in use. This plus a nice sleeping bag will work anywhere. This is most spartan option of course but easiest to store and break down when not in use. If you google "car camping" you will see all sorts of ideas that people have come up with. I hope that helps as a starting point. I am curious also because I have the same setup.

I built a deck for my 1st gen which lays level with the tire well. I have a cap on my truck. I have tried various bedding options since 2005 and ended up using a 3 inch thermarest inflatable mattress with a nice sleeping bag. Allows for comfortable sleep and easy to stow when moving the truck. A lot of your comfort will be determined by your size and weight. I am 6' 190 lbs and needed the extra padding while sleeping on plywood and carpet. I tried the thinner thermarests but not comfortable on hard surfaces.

I have a decked system in my CM. I set it up to camp out of while hunting elk in sept and for short weekends I dont want to pull the trailer with me. Here is what I use
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01N2VRBP3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will try and get some pictures up later. I do sleep at an angle to fit but I'm 6'3 but it leaves enough room for the Lab when hes with me

Also I have cut this roll of reflectix in to for my side windows. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Reflect...-Reflective-Insulation-Roll-BP24010/100318552

Thanks for the feedback so far.

@Stig - Ya, pretty much. I was mainly talking options as like best for storage, comfort, and quality. But I got ya, it is just throwing a mattress on a flat surface.

@Zero One Actual - I just got a Camper shell as well. Snugtop Rebel. So i'm closed top. I like your idea with the custom dimensions mattress. sounds like a great option. I want to make sure I could possibly fold or air it down so I can keep in the truck all the time and still have the top of my deck usable for working/hauling miscellaneous supplies.

@mtntop - Thanks for the information from experience. I'm 6' 215lbs so pretty close. I'll look into thermarest options.

@Limber - Thanks, Pretty much exactly what i'm going for. I looked at that Lucid Mattress on Amazon and see the dimensions are (Full mattress measures 53" X 75" X 3") my bed on top of the Decked measures approx 65" X 65" do you leave the short section folded up in the front or rear of the bed while sleeping?

Also to add to the discussion.

I have the core trax option installed on my Decked so I was a little worried about air filled mattresses. Don't want to wake up laying on hard plastic, because the trax are pretty flat but still have alot of edges.

You could lay down a liner under the mattress, they sell them to use when sleeping on the ground to prevent punctures.

Sounds like a custom memory foam cut in three pieces is your best route. That way it fits perfectly and breaks down into three smaller linear pieces for storage. Additionally the memory foam on the bottom will conform to your core trax.

Ya, I've already started some searching around after you pointed me that direction. Those custom cut mattresses jump quite a bit in price but definitely the best route. It would be nice to have a perfect fit. Now its time to decide how much more I really want to spend on this setup. :spending:

There is always the cheaper route of getting a roof top tent and rack and additional rear suspension to support it. That should be cheaper than memory fo.......oh wait. My bad.

Here’s an update of the sleep setup for LittleTRD.

Haven’t slept on it yet. But looks and feels promising.

I’ll update after the first trip out.

Forgive the ignorance...mind a little blown here

Do you crawl through the tailgate side window and then close it? Or do you go in with tailgate down also and then pull the tail gate up once you're in?

I have been getting in with tailgate down and pulling tailgate up then closing the window. Ill need to add a strap to one of the bolts on the inner tailgate if I continue this way. Because its a bit of a reach. So i'm just going to see what way works better.
    1. Hitch or Bumper(Fold up) Step going in with tailgate up.
    2. Strap on tailgate to help with closing.
Whichever one works out to be the most convenient.

I'll add to the mattress discussion by sharing my experience. I worked with an upholster years ago that placed large orders of padding used in couches. Memory foam is pricey but given his years working this material, he fixed his hunting rig with a combination of three types/layers of foam/padding. Very inexpensive material that you can find at a local upholstery supply store and cut into shape. Just my .02

I am also pending purchase of my own Decked system.

@slam38 I purchased 2 of these from Amazon. Since I have the super short bed, I cut off the additional pillow part and had the cover re-sewn, now it fits perfect.

Without cutting they are about 70inches long.

There are places that sell replacement mattresses for RV’s too. They have lots of smaller sizes
