DAP Tuner done in Ft. Worth 2019
I’ve wanted a Tundra ever since my son got a 2007 SR5 for a wedding present. Finally got a 2012 Platinum in 2015 and loved it until I drowned it in 3 feet of water last September. Replaced it with a 2014 1794 edition. Very mice truck in general but I sure wish I could combine the 2 trucks. I love the improved display, screen brightness, graphics, layout, sound system, noise level, braking and controls but they screwed up on changing the console, cup holders, some of the programming options (like no option to unlock all doors when you put it in park). The worst part is how badly they de-tuned the engine throttle response. I was told a lot of people complained the early models were “too torquey”. Who the heck buys a Tundra then complains it has too much response? I learned how to deal with that touchy throttle in about 2 days. Anyway, I had DAP in Ft. Worth do a tuner on it earlier this year. That definitely helped with the throttle response (to a degree), mileage and smoothness of shifting. I still have to put it in tow/haul to get the kind of performance out 2007’s have. We’ve had 7 Tundras altogether- a 2007 SR5, a 2007 Limited, a 2010 CM 4x4, a 2012 Platinum, a 2014 SR5, a 2014 1794 and a 2019 Platinum.
