Oh, gotcha. For some reaason I thought the velcro seam was right at ground level. 6" up is no problem. Back on the contender list.

I''ll have to get around marking out a mock up of the floor size to make sure we can fit our 2 cots, 2 folding chairs and a small folding table in the tent.

In case it helps, I’ve taken ours out on 7 trips I think, since January. The only way bugs could get in is if someone leaves the door open or carries them in (on clothing, etc). My family is well-trained: we never enter with lights on, so as not to attract bugs.

The tent arrives with the floor (which extends up the bottom of all sides) securely attached, no breaks in the Velcro. We also remove our shoes before entering (then set them on a towel just inside) and sweep it every time we take down camp, so it doesn’t get dirty.... unless something was to get spilled, I can’t imagine needing to remove the floor.

In June we got caught in an awesome storm up in the Lagunas, that caused torrents of water and mud and washed out several campsites. We stuck it out (in the truck) then emerged to a beautiful evening and a nearly vacant campground... and our subsequent walk-around revealed many other campers threw their muddled out tents in dumpsters and abandoned camp for home. I could tell that water washed above the tarp we always place underneath the tent, but the tent itself stayed dry inside. We stayed another night, comfortable, dry, and with a lovely, quiet campground mostly to ourselves.

Summary: no problems with bugs or water.

OK after that explanation, now I want one! Actually I’d like 2. The 4 man and the 8.

Was it enough room for a few adults? Seemed like it was just right for you and your kid...

For any tent, if I want to be comfortable I double the occupancy of the tent size for the amount of people inside. Unless it’s little kids. Even by myself I like a two or three man tent. If I was backpacking of course I want something small. Renee and I use a 8 or 10 man tent (can’t remember). Since we use air mattresses it’s perfect for all our gear and two kids.

I like the 8-person tent! The screen room is part of the 8 and has no floor. I like it for getting away from bugs! Could put tarp under I guess

Yeah some tents show a diagram and it shows everyone crammed like sardines with no room for gear, barely my shoes

I guess not having floor can be a good thing if you want to use that space for setting up chairs and a little eating area. I can see sitting in there at night around the table playing cards game but I didn’t think it was a sleeping space when I saw the picture.

Edit: I “did” think it was a sleeping space

I always felt that second person in the diagram is where all my shit goes! LMFAO

When I was a kid and then my friends with cram in a tent like that. But that was fun and you didn’t have much stuff.

I watched some video reviews on YouTube about the eight person tent. Make sure you check the weight and length of that thing when storing it. One person even ordered an after market duffle bag to store it in because they said it was some form of Tetris getting it back in the supplied storage bag.

I have the Coleman queen sized air mattress cot fits right in the middle of the tent with room to walk around.
We just put our stuff underneath the cot and its a nice clean area.

Theres also plenty of pockets that you can put stuff in.

I still love it. It fits my needs perfectly fine since we take anywhere around 2-3 dogs with us. We also recently bought an Exped Megamat Duo LW+ that I haven't tried yet but am under the impression it should fit. We previously used a queen air matress and still had room on the sides. The matress did reach from head to toe from wall to wall, so I expect the same out of the Exped. I also enjoy the access "door" in the bedroom side if I did not want to go through the other room. The fit in the back is fine in my CrewMax as the length of the included bag when filled from front to back leaves a gap between the bag and tailgate. I believe the height of the bag is around 5 ft.

On a side note, we bought a tarp for the footprint and additional locking foam pads to cover the floor for additional cushion and support. We also bought separate tire down anchors.

Finally ended up ordering two of the T4s at that excellent price. Set them both up in the yard for testing and they went through a three day rainstorm (South Carolina) and had no issues at all. Then went camping after storm blew out. The only negative issue I could find is that the windward facing side of the tent could collapse due to strong wind. So it is up to the owner to ensure you use a guideline properly. If you do that, there are no issues whatsoever. These tents are perfect for truck camping and for a base camp that you can drive away from versus a roof top tent setup. Temps at night were in the 30’s and we have good bags rated for that, which again is user error, not the tents responsibility. The doors and windows and zippers are all you need because we aren’t using these for Everest basecamp as owners. Takedown and pack up is as easy as set up. I did it all alone in about five minutes. I did order different stakes than the ones that came with it and replaced the better stakes in the small bag that comes in the tent bag for stakes and guidelines. Awesome family tent all around.

Bringing this back to life. Anyone else running a Gazelle?

I run a T4 also, love it and its quick setup and takedown time but I am currently experimenting with a RTT also.

I still have and love my T4 also still plan to use it. But I’ve moved to the ikamper and it’s amazing.

From what I've seen and read, iKamper is one of my favorites. Like you I still plan to use my T4 also just looking to speed things up with the RTT option.
