I've been struggling for 2 weeks to get my Homelink to open my garage door. When I programmed it, it would kill my Jeep remote, and vice versa.

I finally figured it out and wanted to share the solution. Genie and Liftmaster "head Units" (the motor in the garage) can only hold a limited number of remotes in their memory. For me, that number is 7. Over the years I had paired 7 remotes to the unit. Therefore my unit was full, and when I tried to add my Tundra it was knocking off a previous remote.
    FIX:
Delete ALL remotes out of the memory of the head unit by holding the learn button for 10 seconds (Google your specific model for detailed instructions). Once head unit memory is cleared, simply sync each of your remotes again.
I'm back in business, and my old remotes, (like my totaled 2011 Tundra, 3 of my wife's previous cars) are erased.
    Happy programming...

Good tip. Also, there are things that people should do before they trade their cars in:
Make sure you remove all the non-essential paperwork like old receipts, service receipts, bank withdrawal receipts, etc.
Clear the Homelink that is programmed into the car.
Clear the addresses that are programmed into the navigation - especially "home".
