Side steps to access bed...Diamondback

Does anyone use side steps to access their bed with a Diamondback?

 

I’m bumping this thread because I was about to ask the same thing. Getting a diamond back hd with the overhaul hd racks. Gonna need to access the front of the bed quite a bit. Not very tall and will need to have a good reach. Anyone use these?
Ps. I know running boards could work for this. I have a dc 8’ bed, they only have like 2 version that run into the bed side and I just didn’t care for them. I just got set of standard dc ionic boards for a steal. So anyway looking at direct bed side access options for a shorter guy. Thanks.

I use my sliders kickout as a step for access to side of the diamondback.

 

I have GoRhino RB20 running boards and they work well to access the Cross Bin under my Diamondback

 

Do the boards run into the bed side at all for a good reach? Or are you having to one foot it and reach far sideways?

 

Please elaborate. So this kickout extend to the side of the bed for easy access in the cross bin?

 

I still have to reach sideways a bit but I don't find it a big deal.

 

The sliders extend from the front fender to the back fender so I usually step on it and put my other foot on the rear tire and have perfect access at the correct height inside the bed by the cab.

 

Oh gotcha. Got my dclb it’s a much more difficult stretch.

 

Oh ya, i see now. Not sure if they make sliders for your configuration unless its a custom job, but if you did get sliders, it would provide enough to get back there. In your case if you arent willing to shell out for the sliders, the side bed steps would probably be the best bet.

 

Might be a dumb question, but has anyone ever used a retractable side step for passenger use?

I want to ditch my nerf bars altogether, but my 5' 4" wife says she won't be able to get in the truck. Would a single retractable side step installed just so she can hobble on in when she rides work?

 

I have the same type truck. Did you ever find a solution you likes for side bed access? Sliders or hefty side steps that go all the way to the back tire would be ideal but there seems to be very few options
