Hello all! Im going to be changing my rear diff fluid, from looking around it seems that the lucas 80w 90 heavy duty gear oil and 4oz of Trans X limited slip is an ok way to go. Just wondering if anyone else used these or should I consider something different? Also would 4oz be enough additive? I read where some people used 8oz.
    Thanks much

The Lucas says on the label that no additive is required. I didn't use any but it can't hurt. 4oz should be more than enough.

    It's really dark
I use lucas and no additives, working fine for years

Wow, that was weird. I just went to respond to a post from @MS22 and got some error message. Your last post is gone.

But double check the bottle. Google search is showing mixed results. Maybe the changed the label? I'm curious to know what you find.

Thanks I didnt see that. Maybe Ill try it without and see how it goes. I heard that too much additive makes the LSD ineffective:notsure:

no worries. You figured out the :notsure: shrug so that's good. And I'm not sure about using too much additive. I can't give feedback on that.

I would just follow the instructions on the bottle and you should be fine.

Lucas here too -- at my local napa it was the cheaper option with the additive, no chattery clutches or anything so far....

Good on ya MS22. The 80w-90 Lucas is a nice (and inexpensive) gear oil that hits as close to the 90w spec’d in our manuals. Just saw mine with 10k miles after doing a new wheel bearing and the oil looks brand new.

    Yes please
I liked the royal purple in mine, no chatter and no additive. It also didnt smell nearly as bad when I replaced it 3 years later.
