I highly recommend RMS off Road in Bohemia, Long Island, NY - they are a bit on the pricey side but do quality work and will take care of you afterwards.

Hey everyone, new Tundra owner here. I'm in the Rochester/Brockport area. I was reading back through the thread and it looks like everyone was trying to get a meet up going. Did anything ever come of that? I'd be down for a meet up. Also, does anyone know of any good lift kit installers in the Roc/Buff/Syr area? Looking to get an 8" RL kit installed.

I'm in Rochester, in for a meet. Know a few others that will be in for a meet.

Anyone know a good trail to go around here?

    Slavin_210719_001.jpg

i've spent the last month running around upstate while my daughter was at kaatsbaan. looks like we're going to land somewhere in the region between tivoli, red hook, rhinebeck and copake. in actuality, it will more than likely be tivoli, clermont, red hook as we'd like to get our youngest into red hook schools. probably late sept/early october depending on the real estate gods.

hope you'll accept the transplant.

Did you drive the road from inlet to Indian lake? Any picnic or hiking spots? Will kids be bored?

I drove from Inlet to Indian Lake. I camped a few nights toward Inlet. There’s a few spots to get in the water there and a few spots to fish and hike as well. Really cool area. Do some research on when to go though, one of the most brutal black fly broods you’ll ever experience lol

Got back to Denver yesterday. Currently sitting on another plane headed back east to shoot a gig in Florida. But, after looking at 20 different places, an afternoon shooting for Kaatsbaan and spending 2.5 days in Port Jervis shooting a wedding, we found a place in Red Hook. Needs just a bit of sweat equity but basically move in ready. If the real estate gods stay on our side, we should be there beginning of November.

this is the first time in ages, I’ve had to sign actual paper contracts in person and the only time I’ve ever had to hire a lawyer to close a real estate deal. But we’re looking forward to the move and to slowing down considerably. Going to be good to be back in the ‘country’.

Congratulations on the new place. That's how the real estate is done in New York. I'm about 45 minutes southeast of there.

First time for the lawyer thing for me too. He didn’t even do anything for me. It was all his assistant. The way closing costs were negotiated was different also. I was in the same situation. Moved from DC and have lived in cities for the last several years. Glad I’m in the country. I just wish summer lasted more than 2 months.

so, we're getting settled in red hook. still waiting for movers to arrive with our stuff. hopefully tomorrow. not sure how much longer i can sleep on an air mattress.

i have a few questions that i'm hoping you smart folks can answer for me.

    1) does anyone know a health insurance broker? the ny state of health website is beyond confusing and my attempts to track down a 'navigator' are proving fruitless.
    2) does anyone know a small business lawyer and/or accountant that could help me with all the LLC filing fun?
    3) the house is very vocal. maybe a silly question but is it normal for the radiator pipes to be constantly making noise? i'm assuming it's just because of hot/cold/hot/cold/etc but the clanking is taking some getting used to.

the oil tank in the basement is an interesting new piece of kit for me. thankfully, the oil company rolled over the previous owner's pricing for us which is about 50 cents less per gallon than a new contract.

i've only been here for two weeks and i already dread the traffic going over the bridge to kingston... also, the folks at williams hardware on 9 have become my new best friends.

back to removing all the 70s wood paneling (so many nice surprises underneath) and fixing the drywall.
