Hi Fellas. My first time on this site and need help.
I would like to install a Drop In Bed Liner . The dealership told me that there are two options. One for trucks with tie down Rail system and one without. The one for the tie down rail system tend to be shorter on the side in order to sit under the rail system and the one for the non-rail system is usually higher and will tuck under the truck's side cap. I do have the Rail Mount system on mine. However, I'm wondering wouldn't be better and stronger to get the bed liner for the non-railed and remove the rails and install them back on the top of the bed liner ? This way it will tuck higher and the rails will hold it with the bolts.
Please don't comment on spray liner. I'm not interested because from my past experience, they do not avoid denting the bed from heavy usage . Thanks

I did a BedRug so it’s not quite apples to apples, but the tie down rails come off and go back on pretty easy if you cut or burn a hole you’re going to use to make sure that they line up right.

I don’t think the bolts are long enough.

Spray in bed liner and bed mat. Or spray in bed liner and then a drop in liner.

Should buy the spray in bed liner from factory, now you should line-X it.

You don’t want a drop in. I just pulled mine, tons of spots the paint is gone, bare metal starting to get surface rust. Glad i caught it

Drop in liner is on my short list of stuff I want.
Ive had on in my 2002 f250 from day one.
I pulled it out a year or so ago.
    Paint was dull under it.
But not through paint . And no rust anywhere.
I love it in my Ford.
God knows what all I've thrown at it.
    Never dented or punctured it.
Water runs out back nicely .
Only complaint I have is that it is a little slick . Some stuff will slide around on it.
    But not a big deal.

If you had a DC, I have a brand new liner you could have for free. Northern California.

My understanding from the dealership is the 2019 Tundra has an Aluminum bed. So no rust will ever occur. Infact, I have had a Tundra before this new one for 11 years and I had a drop in liner . I loved it . Took a lot of beating and no dents . Only scratches. My also understanding is that in order to do the spray liner, they will have to sand the paint anyway . The spray liner does not compare to the drop in liner in terms of heavy usage and dropping items . I purchased an bed UnderLiner
from Weather-tech which will go under the drop in liner to avoid bed scratches . Here is the link.

Your bed isn't aluminum. I was going to suggest the weathertech underliner but I see you've already got one. To answer your initial question, you're farther ahead to get the liner that fits with the cargo rails. Putting the rails over the liner can be done but requires alot of trimming which will end up being almost the same as the liner that's already cut for the rails.

Hi Duece292, I tend to agree with you . I don't want it to end up being a project . I just want to drop it in . and yes, I already ordered the Weathertech underliner. That will at-least help the floor of the bed . I might put something on the wheel wells. I honstley had my 2008 Tundra for 11 years and did not have rust . Only scratches. With the amount of tools and other things I hauled all these years, I would have definitely dented the bed if I had Spray Bed liner. The Drop In Liner takes a lot of beating.

And yes, I specifically asked the dealership and they said that the bed was aluminum . But I trust that its not aluminum based on your comments.

You can get a drop in liner then drill a couple holes and run the bolts for the rail system right through it. I already had a drop in liner and wanted a rail system. Somewhere in here there is a thread about a DIY rail system. There are some pictures in that thread of a guy who did the same thing. Oem bolts should be long enough. If not, it isn’t that much to get 10 (I believe) new longer bolts.

So then would you do that or get the shorter one that sits under the rails? I'm just thinking it will be steonger to install the rails on the topic the liner

The rail mount bed liners are normal liners. They just have a small notch where to tie down bolts go. I’ve had both, a bed with tie downs and factory liner and a bed with just a liner.

Order the appropriate one and without modifying it you will be happy.

I rolled on some herculiner, then a plastic drop in on top. All now covered with a Leer cap. Did the same with my 07 Chevy, no cap, bed isn't rusted or dented, takes a licking and still solid !
