Good to know, that would be a reason for me to purchase new then! I keep my vehicles for 10+ years anyways so resale value honestly doesn’t matter much to me. They’re worth whatever someone will pay in 10 or more years and that’s what I’ll take! If I enjoy the vehicle who cares how much it’s worth, daily driver vehicles are not investments

MIL has one. One of the first in our area. She loves that thing.

    Comfortable. Spacious. Pretty zippy.

    I think it’s a good grocery getter.

I was looking at the telluride and while it looked fantastic online, when I saw it in person I was not as excited.
I have a slight fear of mfrs that offer long warranties. You can look at it two ways; it’s because they have so much trust in their vehicles they don’t think the warranties will be used much or they don’t have much trust in their vehicles they think that warranty is going to be needed. Idk.
Couldn’t get myself to get a KIA either. The Hyundai palisade maybe even though I think they’re essentially the same lol.

That 10/100,000 you need to buy extra. My friend bought a new Kia SUV a few years ago and found out that they had to buy that at extra cost. Lol it comes with only the standard 3/36. Go try to buy one and you'll know what I mean. False advertising imo.

The front looks ugly like a Kia soul. No thanks. I prefer my Subaru Ascent

The Palisade is the same vehicle, just different body work and some different features and Hyundai Motor Group owns Kia. They ride on the same platform and have the same motor and transmission. Personally on the warranty side I see it as the first point you made, they’re confident in their powertrain to the point they believe it will go 10yrs/100k miles with no issue and aren’t afraid to say if it needs repair...we’ll fix it, but we don’t think it will need it.

My parents have an Elantra and my grandparents just bought a brand new Santa Fe coming from a 2010 Highlander and couldn’t be happier

Glad you dig the Subaru! I’m not a huge fan of the boxer motor or the CVT, but again I’m glad you like it.

Here’s what I found on the warranty. I don’t think it’s “extra” but I could be wrong, starting discussions with a salesman to see what’s up.

Something to keep in mind if buying a used one. The 10yr/100k warranty is only good for the original owner. It drops to 5yr/60k for other than original owners.

Edit: I should have refreshed before posting as I see this had already been covered.

I would rather go for the Hyundai Palisade. The same vehicle with just a few different body panels. Hyundai owns Kia, so I am sure quality is the same, but there is just something about "KIA" that does not sound right to me. It is like Chevy and GMC. I will never buy a Chevy, but I like GMC - the exact same vehicle - just a connotation to the name.

I agree with both of you. GMC's always have a better looking grill and front end.

Funny the wife and I have been checking these out too. Our '06 4runner is getting long in the tooth and we have been looking at newer options? I'd like to stick with another Toyota (but I don't care for any of the Lexus options). Ideally I'd love to get a Land Cruiser but the prices on those are hard to swallow and I don't see many of them used around here. Next best option would be a newer 4runner but the wife wants a better, more luxurious ride and I really wish the 5th gens kept the V8 option as the V6 in the current gen is somewhat weak. The Sequoia has a certain amount of appeal but its just too big for our needs. All that really leaves is the Highlander which is what I think the Telluride and Palisade directly compare/compete with.

I get where you are coming from with the GMC vs Chevy comparison but I do not agree in this case. I think "Telluride" is a better name then "Palisade" and I think the Telluride looks better too. Maybe most importantly, the Telluride is made in the US where as the Palisade will be made in Korea.

We looked at these as well... and online they looked great. We finally went down and saw one and the interior placement of things , to us, felt like an afterthought. The infotainment system appeared to us like it was an iPad on a kickstand you’d watch next to your bed side. The grab handles were something else we didn’t like... seemed corny to make it appear off-road like. The rest seemed nice .

We preferred the palaside ... if we had to pick.

Thanks for the input! Nobody in Montana has one and the ones they are going to get are only lower trims for a while. I think the infotainment is subjective. Personally I love the look all by itself and feel like the Palisade dash is chunky and wastes space by tying the instrument cluster into the infotainment screen. Honda is doing the screen the same way on its own in the Accord and I believe BMW does it that way too. Again, subjective and to our own personal tastes.

Even with those quirks, what did you think overall of the vehicle? Did it drive well? Did all the features work well? Was it comfortable? All additional input appreciated!

Honestly, if I didn't need the ground clearance for deep snow, I would have probably bought one instead of the Tundra. :sorry:

I think they look astounding. Features per dollar are MILES ahead of the competition. Kia has really stepped up their quality to the point that brand snobs are looking foolish.

My only reservationa are the first model year willies, and I want a bit more power in something that size. If I had more than just me and my dog and it wasn't gonna be running in the mountains or off pavement much, I would absolutely make that the family wagon.

    Edit for grammar

Yeah I think the Telluride and it’s cousin the Hyundai are really nice - I’d buy one - but I think if I had my druthers - I’d go sequoia as the first choice.

I did rent a QX 60 3.5 while in Florida for 11 days- I need that in my life right now

Not yet. Not in a rush and looking at mid next year for it. Nobody has them in MT yet and the nearest Kia dealer is hours away to boot. By that time the hype will be down and I should be able to purchase at or below MSRP. Also, my parents just bought a Palisade and will be driving up for Thanksgiving, so my wife and I will test drive it then. Virtually same car so that’s good enough for me for the moment. If myself or my wife absolutely hate it then we’ll take it off the list, but I doubt that will happen.

My wife has a 14 Sorento we bought with 60k on it. Thing has been nothing but quality problems and electrical gremlins. Had to fix the AWD coupler at 65K which was an 800 dollar part. Parking sensors went bad, Had several codes that come an go. Put more money into it thing then any other vehicle I've owned in less then 2 year span.. My local dealers are terrible to deal with to... Can't wait to get rid of that thing .. I'm not a Toyota fan boy I've owned many brands...Kia is a POS in my experience..I'll never buy another..

Additionally. Look at the resale or trade in value of a Toyota versus a KIA.

I was considering one for my wife and liked the fully loaded one in pics but saw one on the road and in person and glad I didn't buy one. It's way smaller in person and the front end looks strange to me especially with the DRls on, like it's eyes are very far apart. The hyundai pallisade which is it's cousin is even worse looking imo. Also, why would Kia be marketing this SUV like it' an off road beast? Weird

KIA and Hyundai aren't the disposable cars they use to be, but I still couldn't convince myself to buy one.
The superbowl commercial of the Telluride going through a water hole/ creek in slow motion really rubs me the wrong way.
Don't advertise or depict the vehicle doing something that it can't actually do.
    https://noqreport.com/2019/02/04/2020-kia-telluride-cant-actually-super-bowl-commercial/
The amber headlight surrounds look tacky in my opinion.
