We'll, I work 3rd shift and I just ran out of cigarettes. I'm finally laying them down. Wish me luck!

Want my wife to QUIT so BAD - but it only causes an argument !!

Think of all the mods you can buy with the money you are saving.

Then think of all the mods you can buy if the wife quits.

Thanks for all the encouragement. I know it's gonna be a tough road for a little while, but I'm ready to face it head on. I've been talking about quitting for awhile now and at 5:30 this morning, when I smoked the last one in the pack, I finally decided that I had, had enough.

Good for you, dont pick up food as a replacement. I quit 27 years ago and put on about 80lbs. OK I probably would have put that weight on anyway but....

The secret is to quit, not 'try' to quit. Sounds like you are on the right track. Don't give in to that one temptation.
Not nearly as difficult to do, but I quit eating chocolates a few months ago. We have bowls of bite-size chocolates here in the office and I was eating way too many of those every day. I tried to reduce the amount but that never worked. I tried to limit myself to only one per day, but caught myself taking just one more. I had to finally decide to quit completely. I have not had one chocolate in 6 months; I don't even miss it anymore - it was just a bad habit, and I have lost 15 pounds ( I have cut back on other sugar too to curb the cravings). Win-Win.
I am hoping you can do the same (and I realize cigarettes are a lot more difficult to quit; but you can do it)

Still think of them but cant stand the smell any more so I like to hang around a couple smokers to remind me of what I smelled like

I'm coming up to a year without and feel so much better for it. The first 10 days were the hardest, once i was through that it was fine. The 'tough' time for me has been over the summer when i'm sitting with a beer in hand thinking that a smoke would seal the deal. It's a momentary temptation though and I've not woken up the next day thinking "dang, I wish i'd had that smoke" but in years past when i've quit for a while, I have woken up the next day and had immense regret that I did have just one with a beer. That one quickly gets back to a pack a day...

Hang in there, it's worth it

 

I’ve cut way back but I really need to just pull the plug and finally stop. I quit enjoying having cigarette after cigarette years ago. But I still have a couple a day. More when I’m drinking!. But those few reward cigarettes that I like to call them, are really hard for me to give up. I’ve gone a few days at a time without one. But the minute I tell myself I’m going to have one when I get home, I just can’t stop thinking about it. Then I enjoy it way too much LOL. One thing I started doing was putting out and re-lighting the same cigarette multiple times. I smoke American spirits and they tend to last a long time. So I can get 2, to 4 relights. Sometimes all I want is a hit or two.

@easleycrawler good luck. I smoked for 15 years, quit for 2, fell off the wagon for a while, and have now been off them for about 8 years. What worked for me was identifying scenarios where I really wanted to smoke, then avoiding them as much as possible. That meant giving up greasy food and trips to the bar. Turns out giving up those things is great too! Who knew?

I quit smoking about a year ago by using a vape device. About 6 months after that I quit vaping and bought a Juul. I still use the Juul to this day. It does satisfy my cravings and is a bit cheaper than smoking cigarettes.
I’m not saying you should get a Juul instead of quitting smoking but, it worked for me.
Eventually I may put down the Juul.

I’ve also been sober since June 24th 2018 so, cigarettes/ vaping is the least of my worries.
