i've got a set of 6112's coming in for my crewmax platinum and would like some advice where is should have the snap ring set up? my thoughts were between the top or second to the top setting. my hopes are to more or less level out the truck.
    thank you in advance!

Typical lift/level kits for our trucks are 2.5" or 3" in the front and 1" in the back.

Do you plan on lifting the rear by adding shackles, AAL, or a block?

not initially but yes eventually will be adding some shackles. i'll probably go with the 3rd setting and adjust once the shackles are installed.

Are you aware of the zero point calibration? I haven't owned a lifted truck, many of the guys on here are very knowledgeable with suspension and should be able to give good advice. With that being said, I would probably do the front and rear at the same time. That way you can do the calibration, alignment, etc., all once and be done with it.

If you are going to the 3rd setting from the top, remember your bump stop settings and do a diff drop too. Anything over 2.5" will require the upper control arm swap to get alignment corrected.

Give the springs a couple days to settle as well. At first I had 3.5" of lift on the 3rd setting and my front was higher than the rear even with the CB +2 shackles. I ended up going all the way down to the bottom setting.

Did you get new shocks for the rear? I went with the 5160 shocks and they are just bad ass. The front 6112 were a huge improvement over stock, but with the rear 5160 shocks it was like icing on the cake.

This is how my truck sits on the bottom setting, CB+2 shackles, CB 1/4" shim on drivers side front, airbags with Daystar cradles.

My mechanic fixed most of my issues....

This is how the truck sits with the camper at 7400 lbs.

as far as lift experience, i had 5100's on my previous tacoma set at 1.75" but i eventually dropped them down to zero as the ride quality was suffering and moved onto a 3" toytec suspension lift with total chaos uca's.
what i'm hoping is that the included spring with the 6112's can handle the preload a little better as they're supposedly vehicle specific and don't get harsh from a simple level.
i am also aware that i'll need an alignment upon installation as is with any change in geometry. my plan to lift in stages also has a little to do with the fact that my 285/55/20's are under a year old and i'm concerned that if i jack everything up right now they'll appear undersized with 3" of lift.
i also have yet to order rear shocks but chances are i'll go with some 5160's in the near future.

@PlatinumPro, would you please post few pics of your lift? Did you do the rear at all or just the 6112 for the front? What setting did you set it at? How is the ride? I know I ask too much .....

I set the 5100's @ 1.75 on my '12 Taco with the stock coil and to me it was too rough even though the truck is very level. Thanks.

i'm still dragging my feet on doing the 5160's as there always seems to be something else to spend the money on :p
after a month or so on my 6112's i can say that it's been a great improvement and i really notice the difference between the 6112's and rear black oem shocks.
like you i also came from a tacoma that i started off with on 5100's set at 1.75 and also wasn't impressed with over time how stiff they felt. you'll be happy to know that these are nowhere close to as stiff. the spring included with the 6112 package the 3rd setting rides very nice and would almost call them plush in comparison to the tacoma 1.75" 5100's.
i forgot to mention i also added a differential drop as well. i figured because i got around 2.5" of front end lift it couldn't hurt to flatten out those cv angles a little.

Thanks for the pics. Truck looks great.

So, you got NEW springs along with the 6112. I wonder how the Stock springs will work with the 6112. Is the new spring Longer/Shorter/or the same length comparing to the OEM one?

6112's are application specific so when you order them included is the shocks and new springs that are set up for our trucks.

Your truck looks great and I'm thinking of going a similar route with the 6112s. Would you mind posting a pic of the complete side view, and do you have any before pics with a side view? Now that your springs have had time to settle, how much lift did you end up with? Thanks in advance!

I just got my 6112s and 5160s. I have 2" spacers in front and 1.5 shackles in the back and like the stance with most of the rake. Cound be a little higher in front. But I don't want to have to get ucas right away. Should I go all the way or drop down one?

I would go all the way up. Here is what it looks like on the 3rd setting (1 setting below the top) with 5160's in the rear @ stock height. The 3rd setting is right at 2" of lift. If you like the way it sits right now with your spacers, go with the 3rd setting. If you want it more level, go with the top setting.

Hey BlueFalcon, aren't the 6112's @ top setting giving you 2.75" up front. Also I have heard they will settle down to 2.5" after a while. Did you just do the shocks or the full coilover?

Top setting is 2.5" up after it settles. I did the full coilover. They tuned to be used together and I don't think you can even buy the shock without the coil.

I didn't think so, this is the exact setup I'm gonna do. Aside from that, I guess it's not recommended to put any small spacers or shims to get maybe 3". Just wanna be able to stick 295/70/18's in there. Thanks

Yeah, the top setting is looking pretty good. Especially with the 1.5 shackles. I'll just have to get airbags for when I'm hauling stuff. But the wife will not be happy with me if I have to get the ucas to. Anybody running the 6112s on your trucks without doing them? Any issues with alignment or handling?

Got the 5160 done today and poly spring bushings that came with the Toytec shackles. Took it for a short drive on a nearby dirt road and wow what a difference from the factory trd bilsteins. Can't wait to get the front done! Tomorrow I'll take it on the horrible concrete stretch that beats the hell out of me.

    thanks

Need? No. Some people will say that it's a good idea but I don't have one. The way I look at it, I have an identical lift to the TRD Pro which doesn't have anything done to the differential from the factory.

thanks, so to get that stance, leave rear with the 5160 and set front at first notch below top setting on the 6112, correct!

the 1.9" average lift like in the chart below, not the 2.5!

Correct. In fact, I parked next to a Pro a couple days ago and they were identical height.

Question, any reason why you wouldn't set it at top setting. Rough or stiffer ride?

I didn't do the top setting because I didn't want to lift the rear. I wanted to level it out and make it perform significantly better off road. If you wanted to lift the rear than the top setting would be fine.

Best way to measure is fender to center-line of wheel/hub. If you measure to the ground your tire pressure and tire temp will not give accurate lift readings.
