I used to be set on the idea of running a dual battery setup with a solar panel. Now I’m thinking I don’t want the added weight.

So is it possible to just run a bigger deep cycle single main battery and have it connected to a solar panel to keep it topped off? If so is there also something I can use in conjunction so the battery doesn’t get over charged?

Yes indeed. You can get deep cycle batteries of various amp hour (ah) capacities and type i.e. AGM, Gel Cell, Lead Acid, Lithium etc. Depending on your load and needs, a single 100 watt solar panel will maintain a 100 ah battery if a good solar charger/controller is used and of course, direct sunlight.

Renogy makes great solar products and they are located in California. Vrey friendly folks and egar to answer questions regarding your specific needs or setup.

They also have a 100 watt starter kit which is reasonably priced and may work for you right out of the box.
