They actually have a Florida crocodile too. Not aggressive like the African ones thankfully.

Oh cool. Didn't know that. Crocs and gators are fascinating to me. There was an episode of River Monsters where Jeremy Wade dove in a river and was underwater with a massive croc. Super cool stuff.

Yeah I find them neat also. Most of the time they really aren't a threat to humans. Fun fact, there are alligators in every county of Florida.

Also, there is another animal that's similar called a Caiman

Florida man... Florida man. Ugh, I gotta get out of FL. If you like it here, more power to ya but no apologies from me.
I can't stand the weather (sunshine state is a LIE), the bugs, the lack of soil, the backwoodsyness of a lot of the people, people's lack of respect for their fellow man... shit i could go on and on. Now I've made myself angry at the very existence in this place.

My wife studied them in the Everglades. They would wrestle them into a boat, pull blood, and tag them. I've also worked with alot of gators. Lot of fun, great for the adrenaline. :D

I ran a wildlife rehab clinic in SW FL and worked at numerous wildlife parks and zoos in FL. Bald Eagles are my favorite. I actually got tagged on the face by a Bald Eagle. Required 8 sutures, and the crazy thing was I didn't feel it because their beaks are so sharp. The doctor asked me "what happened?" I said a Bald Eagle cut me with it's beak. He said "no, really, what happened?"

Try South Carolina, we have seasons yet don't know what a "Snow Load" is.

I saw a road kill gator in S GA couple of years ago. I noticed his tail had been hacked off. Asked about it and was told the rednecks will do that to fresh kills for the meat...ok.

    Hwy 25 maybe? I26 doesn't go through Greenville/TR.

Know the road well, slip up through there on the way to the mountains.

So I live in Lake Charles area in South Louisiana and there is a professor at the college here that has done research and discovered that alligator blood has some extreme immune properties. They get cuts/limbs missing, gashes....are in this funk water with lots of bacteria, yet are never sick. Article here from our local station. https://www.kplctv.com/story/21412671/alligator-blood-tested-as-new-antibiotic/
Now as a native, we eat them. They are good when cooked properly. I don't mess with them and keep my distance. I know I'm from Louisiana, but don't hold that against me. I don't have relations with my family members or anything....anymore. lol
