My driver side a-pillar cover get's sticky in the heat. I have not checked the passenger side so I am going to pretend it's fine. :anonymous:

No idea what causes this. I am picking up an a-pillar cover from another member in the hopes that this fixes the issue. (It was either this or try to get Toyota to replace under warranty).

Happened in my very first Tacoma. It was from the chemicals used when cleaning the dash. Made my windshield all hazy within a day or two as well.

As soon as I changed products, it never happened again.

I have only ever wiped the dash with a damp (clean) towel - no chemicals or cleaning products.

Mine's been like that since I bought the truck, was wondering a good way to get rid off it.

Buy a new one with a handle. I've had the interior above 130F.

I should add that when I bought my handle and pillar from a scrap yard it felt like duct tape.

A decent amount of goo gone and blue shop towels and it’s totally smooth and clean.

Maybe OP just remove it and give it a deep cleaning?

OP, did you find a solution? Mine is also sticky but only on the front end (end closest to front windshield). Warm water and cloth didn't work for me.

Mine also. Been like that since I bought it new from dealer. The only time it bothers me is when I'm wiping down my dash and I go to wipe the pillars and the fibers start sticking to it.

I've noticed it on mine when using any "protectant" products. Now I just use a damp cloth.

I just checked mine. Bought the truck in April and have never used any chemicals. Both pillars are sticky. Damnit!

Same here. No idea until I read this post. Have not used any chemicals. It's going in for the 15k service Wed... if I remember, I'll ask them about it, to see what they say...

I've installed a new handle on the drivers side about 3 months ago with a new A pillar cover. It is now sticky as hell just like my old one. I live in the high desert so it easily reaches above 100F daily during the past couple of months. I think it has something to do with the heat for sure.

Curious for the ones with the stickiness, are you smokers?

OH and don't get a pair of dirty hands on a sticky pillar. The marks are almost impossible to get out because of the stickiness.

Took truck in this morning for 15kmi service... pillars not as tacky as they can get during midday heat (AZ)... but the service rep was able to feel it. "Oh wow, first time I've ever seen that!" He said they could order new ones and compare... not really worth the time to bring it back in just for that, when I can just clean them myself...

Wiped it down with rubbing alcohol and it seems to have removed it. I'll let you know in time if it "sticks" Lol.
