I know this is an old post but I have a question on the mentioned cowl leak. I too have a cowl leak that drips on the passenger side. However, where the cowl screw retainers shown above are their is a big deep open cavity below that also has the cowel screen above it for fresh air. I can't see how this "seal" repair would work as it is still open to the air and rain. To be sure that it is not a windshield leak I pulled the black cowel off and ran water into the screened area. Water then went through the chanel and drained out the door side so I expect the drain is ok. Tet I still had a slight drip in the cab. Is it possible the vent gasket seal may be bad and if so can it be repaired?

Mines the average mpg from the time I turn the key on to the time I turn it off. The scangauge connects durrectly to the ECU. So it's accurate if you make the necessary adjustment for the bigger tires. Use a tires size calculater to determine the difference in circumference (iirc maybe it's the diameter) and multiply that percentage by the number on you trip OD, then add the number on your trip OD. Math can be fun.

Nice. I did notice today that my gas light didn't come on til 303 miles on the trip-OD per tank. Before I started driving more conservatively i'd get about 291 with the DDI injectors and I got about 275ish with the stock injectors. All these are with the 295/75r16s

Hated math, loved physics though. I think something to do with the fact the math involved in physics actually worked toward something tangible.

I once told my boss in annoyance - 'just tell me what # you want & I'll make them = that number.'
That was next years budget which is #'s fiction.

But start getting into #'s non-fiction where you need 100% accuracy & it's not fun anymore.

It's just algebra. Same with about half of chemistry. I liked physics and chemistry because it was kinda like you said. Math with a mission. Plus Mrs. Ivanova was a sexy redhead

I remember my high school trig teacher getting mad when we were learning about imaginary numbers and I asked if we could just imagine they didn't exist.

I went back to school at 30 and was never super great at math. Math is just like anything though, the only way you're ever gonna get better is to do an absolute ton of it. My first class back was Cal 1 and I sorta just BSed my way through it with a lot of tutoring and trying to learn on CHEGG. That was my biggest mistake. Everyone knows that algebra is a building block, well so are differentials. And the chain rule, and the product rule.

Ugh I can feel my anxiety rising as Im typing this.

I fucking hate math and have never been good at it, especially the arcane shit like algebra. Math with a practical application I can eventually figure out because I can see it actually do something. But unless I can see a concrete use for it in my life, I struggle to connect the dots.

My grade 10 teacher was the reason I failed Math 10 and had to redo it in summer school. The guy would spend 90% of the class telling personal stories then the last bit blasting through the lesson. I was bringing home the textbooks and having my dad try to teach me after school, going to the after school math help sessions, getting help from my math talented friends and still bombed it. I could never connect it to the real world.

That teacher tried to relate algebra to hunting. Basically told me a way to use it to figure out where to aim on a moose to get a kill shot from 400 yards. It took him 5 minutes to work the problem. I said "ok, that's great. The moose moved while I was figuring this out". He goes "Well, then you have to start again. How do you know where to aim then?". I launched into a description of ballistics including bullet weights, powder grains, burn rates, velocity, zeroing a scope and milradians. His eyes glazed over and I said "That lack of comprehension you have? Welcome to my life in math class."

Physics eventually becomes theoretical just like math, that's the point at which I lost interest in physics. I'm an engineer through and through, it bugs me to no end to not be able to see the finished product of all my math work. I don't want to know how any of it was derived, I just want to apply it and make it work.

I'm going to pickup a couple cans of Seafoam today and see what difference it makes to my truck. I think we discussed this at one point, but I can't find the thread?

Who else has run Seafoam through their truck and what results did you see?

I have run it with zero results other than to say my MPG went up slightly for that one tank. It's a good product but I don't think you're going to notice any difference in how the engine operates. I think people like to run it regularly to prevent carbon build up.

Ok. So thinking now that I don’t have the truck for a bit. What is the hp difference between shorty headers and king tubes on the 4.7?

When I used the vacuum hose and ran it into the intake I noticed a much smoother idle. I'd guess up there in 'Berta you don't have many neighbors but if you do, warn them not to call the Mounties on you if you decide to do this.

I just finished my first full tank of blending it with my gas so Ill report on that in a week or so. I noticed occasionally on startup that I would get a small puff of smoke, kinda figured that it would be diluted enough that wouldn't happen but I'd be curious what others have seen.

It seams the general consensus on long tube is they are the best bang for your buck. The shorties get mixed reviews. Some claim gains, others claim they are no better than the stock manifold. I've even read someone claim they lost low end power.

I don’t se how anyone can lose power going from a log to tubes

But long tubes are what I keep eyeing. Usually long tubes are top end. Ideally a tri-y would be what I want

If you don't have to worry about smog or inspections then go long tube.

I run shorties because California, I didnt do any dyno runs or anything but it feels stronger in the 3500-5000 rpm range. Not where I spend a lot of time but I smile when i floor it.

I'll be honest, I don't know to this day how I passed Cal 3 or DE. And I've also literally never used them one time in my professional life nor will I most likely.
