    Hi All,

I just purchased a first gen Toyota Tundra 4x4 (2006). I'm hoping to slowly but surely set up an overland rig for adventuring. I plan to update this thread along the way. Feel free to shout out with any questions.

    Vehicle (at time of purchase):

2006 Toyota Tundra 4x4 SR5 TRD Off Road
    109k mileage
Towing Package; incl towing control brake
    Performance High Flow Muffler
    BFG K02 All-terrain
    2' Leveling Kit

    Thanks

I decided to replace the old JVC CD player for an Alpine iLX-W650 and Jensen BUCAM200J rear view camera.

My truck has OEM JBL system which still sounds ok to me (at least for now). I don't expect I'll swap out for a new set of speakers anytime soon but I did have to repair the current front speakers with a really basic kit I bought for $30 on amazon from simply speakers. The JBL front speaker foam tends to deteriorate after awhile.

Location of the reverse power cable. This was a pain in the ass to find and to get info on where to find it so I figured I'd post.

I wired the yellow&blue Alpine cable into the reverse power cable to make sure my camera comes on when I switch into reverse. To do this I had to remove the panel under the driver-side and remove the ventilation tube (not bolted in). Wire is tough to see but should be green and red.

Speaker repair kit was easy to do and worked great.

I thought the speakers were totally blown, but to my surprise after a little fix they sound brand new again. If your OEM JBLs start to sound scratchy it's probably the foam.

Nice! I have used that speaker kit in my wife's Sequoia and it definitely did the trick. Any reason you didn't just tap into the reverse light power in one of the tail lights?

I had to open up the drivers side panel anyway to get to the ebrake wire for my Alpine system. Saved a little time by this way. But, you could definitly run it to the back and power into one of the tail lights.

I like how you tapped into it right there so it won't be easily corroded. I'll be honest I don't remember where I tapped into for the reverse wire. Probably at the tail light. Now I'm hoping I used heat shrink haha.

I definitely tapped in at the reverse light. I'm sure I'll have to go back into eventually and redo it.

    Thanks!

Let me double check on the leveling kit. I'm not sure I bought it like that.
    The tires are 265/70/r16

You in Eugene by chance? I think I’ve been to that Trader Joe’s. Is that the one in the same square as the Mucho Gusto restaurant??

Love your truck. Mine has the same rims, which I honestly didn’t use to like. Now I love them. I run a 285/75-r16. These trucks with those specific rims with oversize tires and a level are some of the best looking truck out there in my opinion. Sorta like the perfect stock enhanced look. We ride the dunes about four times a year. Love going to Florence/Winchester/reedsport.
