Washington state has no "cooling off period" during which a customer can renege on an agreement to purchase a car, according to the state's Department of Licensing. Contracts to buy vehicles in the state apply the moment the customer signs the agreement unless otherwise specified in the contract. As a result, the state advises consumers to read contracts thoroughly before signing and to take their time thinking about whether they really want to buy the car.

Although there is no way to nullify a legitimate contract, consumers may be able to void the contract if they can show it is illegitimate. For example, state law requires car dealers to disclose in writing any expenses such as finance costs, insurance charges and taxes before the contract is signed. If they don't, it could be grounds for throwing the contract out.

Can try to argue the undisclosed crash damage is unsafe but that's a stretch.

Absolutely nothing wrong with owning a Nissan. My first car was an 02 maxima I put up 206K miles before I sold it and now my second car is Infiniti G37. It run well works well at 120 K

A friend of mine had 01 Nissan Maxima he had 242K miles on it before he got rear ended. He had to get a another car urgently ended up buying an Acura hates it every day.

I love my infiniti everyday I drive it .its just that I’ve been hit with a truck bug and so my reason of been here.

However I understand why people hate nissans now, ever since they went CVT they had nothing but issues. It has had hit Nissan like A plague and it’s not ending.

    **********

As for OP and his g/f cars issues she needs to lawyer up. You’re Not going to win this battle unless the dealership feels threatened.

That doesn’t look like flood damage. Flood damage leads a high watermark. Generally if you pull back the carpet in the foot wells it’s easier to tell. There will typically be mud or debris where the water carried it into the car.

In Hawaii there is no 3 day right of recision on sales that are not door to door. That said I have seen people complain enough that they took the car back.

I hope this gets resolved for the OP, but it does bring back a saying one of my uncles told me when I was looking to purchase my first (used) car. "Never buy a Ford from a Chevy dealer".

The engine bay pics look like what a car can look like after just 1 year in Connecticut. But the interior surface rust on the steering shaft doesn't make sense, so it definitely could be a floor car. I live in CT and it's amazing how quickly the exterior and undercarriage can get rusty and oxidized, but inside the car would be rare. The respray job seems pretty obvious to me. I hope you have some recourse and ultimately I hope they take the car back, its very obvious that it has had a good bit of damage which they did not disclose. Maybe they didn't know about any of it, but I doubt that.

Got a 99 Maxima, purchased new and the thing still runs like a tank, gave it to my daughter has 200k miles and would drive it anywhere. The leather has no rips, and looks fantastic on the inside and outside still and not one rattle. I honestly think any car or truck made these days are not built to last for longevity. We live in a disposable society....and it’s not just cars, it seems a lot of things made these days are built much cheaper than they used to be.

Hopefully OP you can just take it back or have the dealer somehow make it right. I never trust a car dealer. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

The steering shaft oxidation is actually very normal. I see it a lot and I’m nowhere near the rust belt.

I'm in CT and I believe I have rented that car.... I drove it like I do all rentals... Off road, up river beds, through mud, and of course, like I stole it! I drove it back and forth to Boston doing 90+ mpg and had no regard for easy braking or slow acceleration...hammer down till she redlines! I'm just joking but somebody did just that to your rental, and that is true.

I would bring it back to the dealership, say you want a Toyota, and to take whatever money you have in the Nissan, and put it into the new Toyota. Give them a chance to "clean up the mess" before it gets ugly. (Lawyers).

Until you get hit with the maintenance = $$$.:spending::spending::spending:

Co-worker has one and spent $5k just for the brakes alone.

I had a similar experience when I was younger. Long story short, they felt “bad” for me and allowed me get another vehicle off the lot. Of course that came with a hit on the vehicle I wanted to dump and was rolled into the new vehicle.
I hope your experience turns out different but I wouldn’t bet on it.
