I used to have a few Atlas rolls, super durable and held up well during daily lineman use. Unfortunately, they were stolen with all my hand tools inside. Wouldn't hesitate to buy more though, great choice

    Yo what up!

No I have the skids sitting in my dining room haha I need to address my engine mounts first. I can't get the new mounts to line up so I am going to have to use a hoist and lift the engine a little.

I'm not gonna use the gas tank skid. I have a fundamental problem with all of the options out there for tank skids. They don't mount in such a way that they support the weight of the truck. Most of them mount to the tank so really when you're on a rock your tank is supporting all the weight. I've been running the plastic oem tank skids for a long time and its been working well enough. It flexes and slides over rocks. I just have to be careful with my lines thats all

That's the concern I have with the tank skid options out there also. Thanks for the info about it, that's exactly what I was curious about.

    UPDATE

Ok, the last few weeks I've been super busy getting The Truck, aka the Shitbox, trail ready. I'm in the home stretch. I ended up buying an engine hoist so I could get the new engine mounts installed. Damn that made it MUCH easier haha I should have just done that in the beginning. While I was installing the drivers mount, I accidentally shorted the alternator hot wire fml That cost me a week of troubleshooting. See this thread for details of the symptoms and resolution:

    Help! Horn won't stop blowing!

I pulled the coilovers and I did my first shock rebuild. It was actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. I had some trouble getting one of the eyelet bearings out, but I used a HF press and was able to get it. The coilovers had 50k hard miles on them and were way overdue. They weren't leaking, but all the eyelet bearings were shot and one of my rod ends was falling off the shaft, the threads were all boogered. I am also going to rearrange the shim stacks and try to improve my valving. I'm changing the stacks in both the coilovers and the bypasses. The goal is to try and smooth out the small bumps a little and increase the dampening on big hits. Its a learning process and I may have to make several changes before I get it right, but doing it myself will be much more efficient than having a shop keep experimenting on them.

Lets see, ummm I got the wheel bearing changed. I still need to swap a wheel, install a new wheel spacer, change my fuel evap canister, swap my steering clock spring, troubleshoot my VSC problems... IT. NEVER. ENDS. LOL

I am excited about these though:

New HD skids from Bud Built. See this thread for details:

    New HD Bud Built Skids

I'll have to have my front plate custom made. I'll see what Steel Nutz can do for me. I should have that done next week.

Next trip is Big Bear and Johnson Valley with the Basturds!

My 1/4" aluminum skids are for sale. They are in good enough shape to protect your truck and you can save a ton of money. Hit me up if you're interested. I'll post a real for sale thread once I get some pictures

Don't remember from any of your other pics...is that the factory plastic fuel skid you have on there? Do you have any other protection for the tank? If not, I will be both surprised and impressed that you can put the truck through everything you do without damaging the fuel tank.

Yeah dude that's the factory plastic tank skid. Lots of people underestimate Toyota engineers. The factory skid and tank does a great job of flexing over rocks. It's held up great

I would put a real skid on except there are no options for tank skids that actually support the weight of the truck. All of them rely on the tank itself to hold up the truck if you lay it down on rocks
