Anyone here running 305/70r17's? I've search and not found much? In the 17" size 285/75r17's and 315/70r17's seem to be the most popular on this site with a few 295/70 and 285/70's thrown in?

I was/am debating between the 285/75's and the 295/70's. I like the height of the 285/75's and the width of the 295/70's. The 305/70's seem to be the perfect combo. Same height as the 285's and slightly wider then the 295's?

The problem is, I have no idea if they will fit with only a 1.9" lift in the front? On the one hand, that seems like a big tire for a 2" lift but on the other hand, I've seen 2 stock suspension trucks the 295's. The 305's aren't that much bigger so you'd think they'd fit with a 2" lift?

Either way, I'd love to hear from someone who's been there/tried that?

Good question. Am wondering the same. Looks like they're the same diameter, just wider according to tiresize.com.

I run 305/70/17 tires on my Rock Warrior wheels and a 2” front lift. The Rock Warrior wheels have a +50 offset I believe. I have Nitto Terra Grappler G2 and Toyo Open Country AT2. They both fit great!

That's a positive sign. My wheel are +25 so they will stick out a little more which could be a problem? Is your truck a Gen2 or Gen3? Thanks!

I have a Gen2 2010 Rock Warrior CrewMax. I don’t know for sure if you’ll have problems or not with a +25 but I read that a lot of folks on here think that number is the sweet spot with not having to do many, if any, modifications to make that tire size fit. You might have to do minor things to make it work but I would say go for it!

    Thanks.

Stock still with 110k miles. Had this truck for about a year now. In about a month I will be putting a new suspension on all around and a shackle as well. Cant wait!

Here's mine on 305/70/17 when I had a 2.5/1 kit... Rock warrior with 1.25 spidertrax spacers

That looks good. According to TireSize.com's offset calculator... RW wheels (+50 offset) with 1.25" spacers would actually stick out about .27" further then my +25 wheels. Then again, the RW wheels at 17x8. Mine are 17x8.5 so that might cancel out? Do you still have your front mudflaps installed?

    Thanks

    Sadly no :(

I'm getting 1 of the 3 options installed in a couple of weeks. I'm going to talk to my installer and see what he thinks and what my options are (can I get the 305/70's and see if they fit and if not, swap them for another size?) and then make a last minute decision from there. :goingcrazy:

Go Big!!! 305/70's are on the right, on the truck in the pic... The 37's (left) are on now. Sucks gas, but I'd never look back!

Curious what your final decision was on this. I'm reading this post 18 months later and feel like I'm in the exact same position you describe above.
I really want to go with the 305/70 17 on my new icon rims that have a +25 offset. I'm on a 3rd gen. Looking to do about 2.5 lift up front. Dont mind removing/moulding some plastic pieces but dont want to do anything too drastic. Searches on this forum still provide very little help with this potential setup. What did you end up doing?

Pulled the trigger today! 305/70 17 Cooper XLT on ICON Rebound +25 offset. 2.5 lift upfront. Moved plastic liner forward and drilled new holes. Removed all flaps on the front. 1in shackle lift in the rear. No BMC. No skid plate trim. Stock UCAs. No rub anywhere forward or reverse. Have spacers for front bumper, may install for a bit more room on 3/4 turn. Its tight but it fits. I think it looks great and of course pics dont do it justice.20210508_141324.jpg 20210508_141336.jpg

I was looking at tires and rims when I came across this post. Think I’m gonna do 305/70/17 now!!! They look great. I’ll have 3 inch lift and an aftermarket bumper so hopefully that’ll fix any rubbing problems.

Thanks! I wanted something between 285/75 and 315/70. I used this forum as well as to help with visuals and calculations.

@airgunner what tire size did you go with? I am also looking at 305/70/17; currently on 295/70/17 but with 0 offset wheels. Thinking of Toyo ATIII...

I have 305/70/17s, Toyo ATIII waiting to be installed on my 17" Titan 7s. They are a +5 offset, so close to your 0 offset. I'm on pro suspension and +1 shackle, so not far from your suspension setup as well. My car is in the shop, so I'll install the new wheels and tires within a couple of weeks.

    Nice! 5.29 and SC!
Looking forward to hearing about/seeing them when they are on. I used to believe that 295/70 was the sweet spot but now thinking its 305/70s. If I had a seven grand or so burning a hole in my pocket I would re-gear and get some 35's... Oh and upgrade suspension... I am tricking myself that I am satisfied with current set up:crazy:. I will most likeley be going with same tires you went with- I may need to cut the body and shim the bumper tho.
